Sara knew what she could handle on her own, she knew what she could treat. She also knew, when she wasn’t capable of it, there were things she could go to Oliver and the team for. But this? This was an infection, and one that could go south fast - if it hadn’t already. So while she was certainly one to take chances, and to play fast and loose with her health, she also really wasn’t in the mood to die. Again. Which was why when James confirmed it was him - honestly, her fever was raging, and she wasn’t sure what was real and what wasn’t at this point - and brought up doctors and hospitals, she told him, “Gotta go to the right doctor at the right hospital. Call...” A shiver racked her form so hard that she slammed into James, “...Oliver. Ask him. He’ll know. Never...” Another shiver. “...use my name or yours. They won’t ask, either...” She started to fade in and out before she jolted awake again to tell him with a wobbly shake of her head, “And no more beds... Take me to the couch, please...”

James wasn't sure if Sara was lucid or not, until she started speaking. She seemed...alert was overstating it. Semi-aware. He guessed an illness of some sort, despite her injuries. Infection, or she'd just got infected with something at the same time, he didn't know. He had some basic medical training out of necessity, but he wasn't a doctor by any stretch.

"Yeah, I know. Only certain places. Same as when I got issues." He carried her to the couch. "You got a lot of heavy muscles for a woman" he said dryly, trying and failing to lighten the mood. He helped lay her on the couch.

There was a reason James didn't have many close friends, and the few romantic relationships he'd had were with women who led a similar lifestyle to him. Things happened, he had to leave quickly, and he couldn't explain why to everyone. It took a certain type of person to understand that, or more importantly, accept it. He'd hoped Svetlana would understand. Maybe she was more attached than he thought.

James had doubts this was only an occasional thing she did, but it didn't really matter to him if she was telling the truth or not. He suspected what waited for her if she was turned over to whoever was after her was worse than what she did.

"You should probably try to find a way out of all of this if you got a kid" he said, not meaning to sound judgmental. "Especially if you're the only parent. "I don't figure I'd look good in the spandex."

"Well, you're better off with me than someone else hunting you finding you. And before you ask, no, I don't know how many people, if any, would be after you. Sorry."

He started working on the twine, having a bit of trouble due to it being hard to get a grip on the knot. He found the end and started pulling it out.

Scoffing at the man, “You know nothing about me or my situation, ok? If I want a kidnapper’s opinion on my life, I’ll let you know.” The brunette’s gaze narrowed slightly at him, even though his tone didn’t seem judgmental, it was hard for her not to take it that way. Far too often, she was on her guard with people – waiting for some sort of proverbial shoe to drop.

“Yes, yes, I know, you told me that – so now what? And I didn’t figure you would know how many might be after me. Hopefully it’s just you and they didn’t waste money on multiple kidnappers, seems like overkill.” She was still, giving him time to remove the twine, sighing as he finally got it unknotted and off her. Bringing her hands in front, she gently rubbed her wrists. A brow raised, “Before you said not to run, now you want to let me go?” She sighed, considering the options, “Look, fine, if someone is after me, I’ll take my chances with you, I guess – see if you’re actually going to help me or not. Besides, if you fail, they’ll probably send someone else if they’re that invested.” Then again, she couldn’t fathom why someone would be so pissed about a car.

Something about this whole situation felt very off from the beginning. It was why he hadn't grabbed her and simply dragged her off to wherever he was supposed to hand her over. He wasn't really the kidnapping type, though he'd be lying if he said he hadn't been in a few. Usually, the people involved were the type who were as bad as he was or worse. He had a feeling this woman wasn't entirely innocent, but nothing about her suggested she was some kind of criminal mastermind.

"Well, I can tell you it was a contract offered to me, but that doesn't mean it wasn't offered to someone else. So yeah, I reckon that's pretty vague. But it means someone else could absolutely be after you, too. It's why I don't think you should just leave. And sooner or later, whoever wanted you will figure out I'm not bringing you in for whatever reason and almost certainly will hire someone else."

Her wrists had a red mark on them. It was pretty faint, as she hadn't been tied up very long, but he could just see it, mostly on her right hand.

"I have an idea that could draw them out fast, but...you're not going to like it" he said, with a slight grimace. "We could fake it, pretend like I really did grab you, see where they want to meet to hand you over. Except I really wouldn't do that. It could show who it is so you know. But I admit, it ain't 100% a safe option."
