a/n: Haiii! I'm actually writing something that I hopefully finish! I got this idea out of the blue watching Homecoming and i thought about it all day long lolll. I should also probably mention its Tony's pov for most of it, and both reader and peter are 19. It's also very dialogue heavy Enjoy!!
Tony Stark had many talents.
Inventor. Billionaire. Genius.
And apparently… nosy person.
Tony spun lazily in his workshop chair, one foot kicking off a workbench. Three hours into trying to redesign one of Rhodey’s flight stabilizers, he’d hit the point where boredom became a virtue.
“Give me random Avengers vitals.”
“Captain Rogers is currently asleep. Heart rate: forty-six beats per minute.”
Tony frowned, “That’s irritatingly healthy.”
“He completed a ten-mile run this morning.”
Tony flicked a screwdriver across the table.
“Colonel Rhodes. Heart rate: sixty-nine.”
“He’s baking banana bread.”
Tony leaned back farther.
“Peter Parker’s heart rate is one hundred twenty-six beats per minute.”
“…Is he fighting someone?”
His curiosity officially activated.
“Miss Stark’s heart rate is one hundred twenty-two beats per minute.”
Tony stared at absolutely nothing for a solid five seconds.
Tony slowly pinched the bridge of his nose.
“I have made a terrible mistake.”
“You requested the information.”
“I know. I regret everything.”
Peter walked into the kitchen looking…fine. Pretty normal, hair slightly messy.
You wander in about thirty seconds later, equally normal.
Peter smiled, “Morning, Mr. Stark.”
Tony didn’t even look at him.
Your head snapped toward Tony.
Tony took a painfully slow sip of coffee.
“…I’ve always believed teenagers deserve privacy.”
“I also believe,” Tony continued, “that if said teenagers insist on living in my tower, perhaps they should remember that I built the artificial intelligence.”
Peter’s face drained of color. You nearly choked on air.
“Turns out elevated heart rates are surprisingly informative.”
Peter looked at you then back at Tony.
Tony held up a hand, “Nope.”
You, mortified, covered your face with both hands.
Tony pointed at both you and Peter with his coffee mug.
“I don’t care. You’re both technically adults but.”
“If FRIDAY ever reports simultaneous tachycardia in the same room again, I am disabling the biometric feed before I accidentally learn something I can never unlearn.”
You looked like you wanted the floor to open.
Tony sighed dramatically.
“I was trying to procrastinate.”
Peter and you look at him with a blank stare as he gestured wildly.
“I wanted gossip! Like Happy eating another bag of pretzels or something.”
Just then, Steve walked in.
“You know what? Your resting heart rate of forty-six is suddenly my favorite thing in this tower.”
Steve frowned and looked at you.
You and Peter answered in perfect unison.
Tony smirked into his coffee.
