I’ll be skipping the vampire theme as these characters—despite their general popularity—are my least favourite of all fantasy figures. Just never could warm up to them. The moment Stargazer joined forces with her spirit guide Wapiti, her potential to travel across galaxies was unbounded. While travelling to distant universes, she would leave her body behind while typically cats, dogs, and birds would keep her body safe and warm while she was gone. On her journeys, she would encounter creatures unknown to Earthlings—like this little bean dragon. “Take me to the Milky Way! I must speak to my star friends”, said the hermit and off they went. 💫 • • • This morning, I enjoyed a mild sun outside while contemplating who the travelling companion of the hermit shall be. Right at that moment, a wild goose loudly honked it’s way above my head! It’s flight was so low, I heard the flapping of its wings! What an experience! I adore nature. But coming back to the point, I knew, this had to be the hermit’s travel companion! Furthermore, people who know me well may guess that after such an experience I’d look up what the goose’s message may be—beyond serving as an inspiration to draw it as today’s travelling companion theme for #artitupwithfriends • • • (in summary) It is said: Seeing a goose or geese in flight heralds a time in which something important is about to happen—something new is on its way. Be prepared. The path that one is on could take a sudden change of direction (!) but will ultimately lead to the desired destination. «What do you think, Archie—Medes—which spell will make your fur go rainbow coloured?» • • • Some illos come easy, and others, well, not so much. And in this case, it was a not easy at all. In the first illo, I was not happy with the cat. In the second one, I wasn’t happy with the little witch 🙄. I decided to photoshop the cat’s eye in the first illustration by making more visible. The poll results were with 67% for the second illustration where the cat turned out way better. Today I thought, I’ll try and draw the whole thing again where I would be happy with cat and witch... plus I had the idea of bringing in a second cat that would try to sneak away in time. It’s officially August! OMG! How time flies! 😱 So this month, I’ll be participating in #artitupwithfriends hosted by @pabkins @badaliceshop @artitupwithfriends | I like their list, can share this fun experience with @yvonnebrennecke_art and can also combine it well with #drawingaugust over on Twitter. #drawingaugust was my first ever art event on social media way back in 2012. It helped me get back into practicing regular drawing after years of, well, not drawing whatsoever. These quick, little illustrations inspire stories which is helpful for drafting new stories for the #12x12challenge I’m participating in this year: A picture book draft each month resulting in 12 picture books drafts 2018. It’s a really busy year.
