Death Stranding
I'm Not the Guy Who Sings the Hymns, No Bleeding Hearts to Mend
(AO3)
It’s been a year since Collie Faust bolted from Central Knot City and started working as a Porter for Lucky Knight Logistics, unraveling the prior 3 years of hard study to become a Bridges negotiator out west on Bridges I (though not her math minor, and certainly not her years of busking, thank the universe). Honest work? Sure. Uninteresting? More often than she’d like to admit.
But a chance run of bad luck puts her in close quarters with Higgs Monaghan, insurrectionist, fledgling cult leader, local menace, and a major subject of all her training.
You can probably guess where this is going, but man, even still, I sure do like the part where Icarus hijacks the little red hen.

What would you do, in her place?
Pity Saelia Mae, a Hunter and pupil of Jolyon Till the Rachis. She's lost her wife, her Vanguard, and many of her people to a man possessed by grief. Here he stands, throat bared, at her mercy, seemingly oblivious to his crimes, but weeping for the opportunity for atonement.
What would you do?
Would you ignore the compassion in your heart? Would you allow it to bubble forth from your mouth, hands, and eyes? Would you let it turn into a fondness more than just empathy, or seethe into hatred that burnt you alive?
It doesn't matter what you'd do. It's not your story. It's hers.
Send It, Disregard Backspin (Complete) (AO3)
In a dive bar on the Reef, Jolyon Till meets an Awoken Hunter, still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and wanting ever so much to be a Crow in service of the Monarchy. Considering the Monarchy is dead after the Battle of Saturn, this is a tall order.
