Katara and Sokka's face markings are based on the Painted Lady and Warrior makeup (respectively)-- on top of giving Sokka some winged eyeliner to resemble a wolf's markings (as the master of wolves), and a semi-circle on Katara's forehead as a symbol of equality (as the goddess of justice).
Gods don't technically "die" in this AU-- it doesn't happen often, but when it does, they usually become one with their domain. When Gyatso died, as the god of the wind, he turned into the wind and could only communicate through wind chimes (small signs/yes/no-- he can't communicate complex thoughts).
When Kya died, she turned into the starry sky. Hakoda, grieving his wife, would often study her form in the sky and learned to use the patterns of her stars to navigate, which made him become god of navigators.
When Kya died, people started praying to Sokka and Katara for matters of family and home-- it's not actually their domain, but they gratefully accept the duties that come with taking over for their mother.
Katara's necklace has sharp points in this to relate to her mother's star domain.
Katara's cloak is a sealskin (as the matron of sealife)
Yes, Sokka's leg is still hurt in this (still trying to figure out the story behind that, but I love when characters get permanent injuries in media and I'm KEEPING IT) he has a cane-- doesn't always need to use it but he has it!
Sokka's cloak is a polar bear dog's hide (as the god of hunting)

Is Lady Hestia supposed to be invoked first and last in just food offerings or every type of offering?
Every type of offering :) The offering doesn't have to be for her and your god, you should just thank her, but it's good to offer Lady Hestia offerings!
Hii, I am someone who is new to helpol and I love the gods, but I am closeted and can't do a lot so it always leaves me disheartened, do you have any advice how I can do my practice without it being too obvious? And how exactly can one give offering? Do we have to give the offering to Hestia first and last always and what exactly are the steps to give offerings? What do you say? How do you do it? And is offering made on festivals done differently than one we do on regular basis? And why can't we eat food offerings given to cthonic gods? I want to be able give an food offering to cthonic gods since that's the only offering I can give while closeted but I also don't want to have to waste food, I was thinking of just offering water and then just using the water to flower the plants but I already can't do much so this makes me feel so guilty, that I can only offer water, so any advice there?

1. How do I do my practice while being a closeted hellenic?
Your practice doesn't need to be physical in any way, practicing hellenism is not like attending a church or reading a bible. You can simply offer meals to ouranic gods, devote actions (like listening to music, taking medication, meditation, hygiene) to the gods. Prayer doesn't have to by physical or loud, as long as you invoke the intending god and thank Lady Hestia, than anything is a prayer! You can say them in your head if you wish :).
2. How do I give an offering? Do I have to give Hestia one?
An offering is anything you want to give as a gift to the gods, such as an action, food, an activity, ect. Just be sure you invoke the god you wish to give this too, it doesn't have to be formal! You don't have to give Lady Hestia an offering, but I highly recommend it! Lady Hestia is the reason we can communicate with our gods.
3. Is an offering different on festivals?
Yes and no. Offerings on festivals have the same premise but tend to be a bit more formal and respectful. Different festivals are also centered around different gods so you should give your offering to the god that festival centers on if you plan to make an offering for a festival.
4. Can we eat food meant for chthonic gods?
Not eating foods meant for chthonic gods is usually based around The Rape of Persephone (aka Persephone being kidnapped by Hades). This is a personal thing and it's up to you to decide if you want to eat food meant for chthonic deities. Just make sure you research beforehand and properly educate yourself to make the decision you like best.
5. Any advice?
Literally anything is an offering! Hygiene, exercise, spending time with family, resting, meditation. The only no-nos to avoid when offering things to the gods is like sexual activity, blood, sweat, tears, body parts, violence, ect. Offerings don't have to be big or fancy. I personally enjoy writing poems for my gods :3
Also PLEASE don't feel guilty, the gods understand your situation and appreciate every little or big thing you can do for them. They are not the christian god.
