“You should probably get used to that.” Guy waved him off and moved to take the spot next to him. He was comfortable enough facing away from the door if Vence wanted to face it. He trusted nothing to happen there. “Probably smells better than having to cook on the go too.”

Guy followed him in with a little bounce in his step. The inside was shabby and the lighting not that great but it smelt divine. Buttery, seafood goodness. He let out a happy sigh. “No. I hate it.” He rolled his eyes a little. “Yeah I like it. It’s not bad.”

Luke may be loud, obnoxious, and impulsive, but let it never be said that the years he’d spent locked up in his family’s manor had not allowed him to hone a very distinct skill set. Luke is pretty good at hiding from people who want to find him. None of the maids were as well-trained as Sync, but they made up for it in numbers.

Even Guy had trouble sometimes.

So, as of right now, Luke is climbing a tree to get into a second story window. Both of his legs are wrapped tight around the branch while he reaches forward… only to see the door behind said window opening.

His eyes widened and, barely giving himself time to look down, he shifts to drop down to a lower branch out of view. The only sign he’d been there was a swaying branch.

Despite the uselessness of this all, a children's game called hide and seek, part of him can't help but enjoy the challenge, the idea of beating Luke at this. Training as a God-General was certainly coming in handy, combing through every room with meticulous detail and making mental notes of where he had checked and the amount of time Luke would need to sneak past and loop around.

It's upon entering a room, he notices it right away, the shift of the tree. It could be the wind. He could write it off. But if he was wrong, he would lose, and Van didn't train him to the bone to lose a kid's game.

But oh how funny it'd be to let Luke think he's winning.

Your heart can never hold still. It pounds against your chest frantically, always turning your sights to one thing after the next. When was the last time you were certain? The last time your life was stable? Maybe this is how you prefer things. On the move constantly, not tied down to one person or place. You chase one goal after the next. Can you ever really feel complete without a place to land? Shouldn’t you build yourself a nest?

…Hm? Julius thought he saw Sync’s lips move, but perhaps he imagined it? Whichever the case, Sync did have a reason besides dying young and tragic to return home: closure against his creators. A normal person wouldn’t accept that sort of anger and rage, but this was former Agent Bakur, who raised a child in sheer spite of his own upbringing. Who was he to set boundaries on what’s “good” and “bad” revenge? 

“Sorry to disappoint, but I have no such grand speech prepared. I can throw something together though if you want one.” Satiated for the time being, Julius let Sync’s hand go. And in return for his meddling, Julius had some good news he’d been withholding. 

“While you ponder that, I can finally say I located where in the Void your world is. Pick a time when you want to go, and I’ll make preparations; I imagine you wouldn’t want other DODA Agents following us.” Covering his tracks wouldn’t take too long as DODA’s Department Leader, but he’d still have to make excuses for why he’d be gone an indeterminable amount of time. And Ludger needed consoling just in case his Chromatus alone couldn’t keep his GHS’ connection back to the Prime. 

“Before we leave though, allow me to say one last thing on the matter: try not to forget the future after your revenge has been had. It might save you from, say, setting your body on an irreversible process of de-existing. Very inconvenient for any future plans.”

“Gross, don’t bother with empty words-” He wasn’t in the mood for it. Logically he’d only feel better for a short period after Van’s death, but after that- What would happen? Who would he be if he was not his current self? Green eyes narrow at the thought before he shakes his head and looks down at the shattered remains of his mask. 

The next words have him freeze just a little bit, eyes flicking to Julius before he frowns, simply thinking it over. 

A shake of the head. “Not now. I need to heal and formulate a plan of attack. Two weeks from now should be sufficient or is my injuries aren’t healed… a month.” Van was strong and even if Sync knew how to combat that man, would he be able to beat him on his own? Would he finally be able to bite the hand that raised and fed him? Even if only to use him like a dog.

Thinking about a future at he never thought to allow himself was hard. Doubt is heavy in his chest, at himself and at this foolish plan. All he could do is look away despite knowing that Julius would only press him to agree. Julius seemed to care, it was strange to think that.

That's why I'm leaving my office, now go back to baby sitting the Fon Master, he might wake up and get scared of his own shadow-"
