Chapter 91- Freedom from Envy part 1
This is the first battle of the Cataclysm and I just was kinda proud of it so yall, take it. Part 1.
Tabia walked through her portal and saw a being in a giant knight like armor with sharp edges. Its back was facing Tabia and it had bladed cables extended from its massive claws. A feathered cape was on the armor’s back, wrapping around its neck like a collared cape. The being turned to Tabia, revealing its helmet that resembled a crow. It’s eyes glowed an ominous black and in its chest it had a Triquetra symbol.
“You’re Morrigan, aren’t you?” Tabia said, looking up at the goddess, who was nearly double her size.
The crow helmet opened, going around the neck of the armor. It revealed a woman with long black hair and violet eyes. She had a scar on her cheek and long sharp ears. The Goddess walked up to Tabia, chuckled and crouched down to meet Tabia eye to eye. Morrigan looked around, counting in her head all the dead bodies left on the ground. The chains on her hands retracted as she asked Tabia, “You’re Loki’s child, correct? The one he had with that woman many years ago.”
“Yes. What’s my dad to you?” Tabia said with a smirk on her face, summoning a red dagger in her palm and grasping its handle.
Morrigan stood back up and looked down at Tabia. She smiled and told her, “The Tuatha Dé Danann are in great relations with the Aesir. Loki’s relations with them are as big a threat to us as it is to them.”
“Well the way my dad puts it, you Celtics are like that annoying cousin who wants to play with the big kids.”
The goddess scowled and the helmet built itself around her face. She walked backwards for a few moments, asking Tabia, “Are you sure an eighteen year old girl can fight someone who just slaughtered thirty adults?”
Tabia looked around at the bodies and told Morrigan, “Did those adults have Norse Magic?”
The daughter of Loki threw the dagger at Morrigan’s shoulder, stabbing the goddess.
Tabia snapped her fingers and the dagger exploded, knocking Morrigan backwards. But then she immediately leaned forward and dashed towards the Successor to Loki, almost looking as if she was flying. Tabia pulled her right arm back as dark green, black, and red Soul blazed from her fist.
She slammed her fist into Morrigan’s helmet, crushing it instantly, like a can of soda. Morrigan was sent flying, and she yelled, “That Jotun taught you Rune Magic?!”
“That Jotun is the God of Rebellion!” Tabia exclaimed as Sorcerer’s Soul flamed around her feet.
She ran to catch up to Morrigan, who crashed into an office building. People working at their desks turned to the armored being in confusion.
Morrigan stood up and purple Soul surrounded the helmet, repairing the beak.
*That girl has as much Soul as her father. And I have less Soul than him. In that regard, I should be on the losing side. But she is just a demi god. She can’t access it the same way I can access my Soul.*
The beak repaired itself as Tabia jumped to the same floor of the building Morrigan was on. Tabia held her left arm with her right and fired off a barrage of concentrated Soul from her palm.
Just as the blasts almost reached Morrigan, the goddess disappeared. For a few seconds, Tabia lowered her guard, staying afloat in the air using the Soul around her feet. But then Morrigan appeared behind her, with her palm open and pulled back.
She grabbed her head like a basketball and flew to the street, slamming Tabia against the ground.
“Even a daughter of Loki can’t stop a true goddess!” she yelled before grabbing her legs and throwing her across the city.
Tabia ragdolled across the street’s pavement, tumbling through. She finally was stopped by a wall, but she had a grin on her face.
I could heal right now, but I don’t think I should. My Sorcerer’s Soul is my biggest trump card, she can’t know the full extent. For now I’ll just use what dad taught me about this goddess.
She yelled as blood rushed from her body, “THAT BARELY HURT ME! AND YOU THINK YOU’RE IN RANK WITH THE AESIR?!”
Tabia created a battle axe from Chaos Soul and prepared for an attack.
Sorcerer’s Soul ran through it, causing lightning to spark from its blades. Morrigan stomped on the ground once and launched herself forward. Tabia spun her axe and threw it, the lightning sparking like a thunderbolt. The axe lodged itself in Morrigan’s shoulder, and lightning charged through her body.
She fell to the ground for a moment and Tabia ran towards the goddess. Morrigan stood up and ripped the weapon out of her shoulder, throwing it to the side. The axe was sent flying into an empty grocery store, breaking through the glass and landing in a section of bananas.
“Did you think a little lightning would stop me?!”
Tabia created a couple daggers in each hand and scattered them across the city, muttering, “For a goddess that’s supposed to be calm you’re extremely annoying.”
The blades stabbed into the ground, but Morrigan paid no attention, instead focusing on her words.
She’s right. Ever since my Nova died I’ve been more aggressive. Her personality must’ve imprinted on my Soul.
“It’ll be interesting to kill you. I wonder if your father would even change a shade.”
Tabia reached Morrigan and pulled her fist back, punching her with Sorcerer’s Soul infused in her fist. But Morrigan caught the punch and moved her arm to the side before punching Tabia back. The outline of a purple raven engulfed her arm and Tabia was knocked back, feeling the force of her own punch through Morrigan’s strike.
“You fight like a bitch, you know that?” Tabia muttered, feeling her cheek and stumbling in pain.
The goddess kicked her away and palmed the air. Her claw’s nails extended outwards, sending five bladed cables around Tabia. She quickly pulled her arm back, causing the bladed cables to stab into Tabia and brought her close.
But then the daughter of Loki disappeared in a flash of red light. She appeared in an alleyway near Morrigan. A blue dagger was next to her, lodged into a wall, as she gasped for air.
She put her hand on her chest and Sorcerer’s Soul ran through her body, healing her wounds.
Smedja is probably the most useful skill I have. How the hell am I supposed to beat that goddess? Loki told me that I should provoke her and make her waste Soul, but she’s barely even using Soul.
Tabia groaned as her wounds healed themselves and she muttered, “Maybe I can crush her using a reversal rune for stability, like I did with Thea.”
She summoned a dagger and prepared to throw it at Morrigan, who was trying to find where Tabia had gone, but then she stopped herself.
“What am I thinking? I need to get close to her to apply any Sorcerer’s Soul. And she thrives if I’m close to her. That won’t do.”
She put her dagger in her pocket and crouched down, pulling out a notebook from her pocket.
