As a big Avatar fan, this is probably my hottest take, but like ⌠I donât want any more of it. Stop making it. Not the new movie, not the live action, not any of it. Just make something and let it be. Make something else instead. Do a new idea.
Iâm not reading the books or the comics. Iâm not watching anything new. Even Korra was on thin ice for me when I was in college (a long time ago okay?) and while I enjoyed parts of it, I also donât think we needed it. Sometimes people will be like, âoh well actually Kyoshi isnât like that because in the books, she ââ no. No, I donât care. I didnât read them and Iâm not going to. Sheâs like that in the show and thatâs fine actually. I donât need the backstory.
Be classy about it. Let it end.
Iâd expand on the idea a little. I am not opposed to new post-ATLA content, but I donât like the idea of these new films/comics/whatever trying to teach me new lessons.
I donât care about the avatar cycle.
I donât want to see the gaang fight for the worldâs survival again.
The story was told. The lessons were learned. The amazing characters in this amazing show were created. Now, I just want to see them happy. I am entertained by the idea of the gaang living long, peaceful lives. I want to see more of just that. I want to see them living their happy lives they deserve.
And I also think it would go along with ATLAâs teachings about hope - that a better future is possible and that these characters have managed to achieve a better world with their work.
You donât need to let the story end.
Let it retire.
