Ā Ā Ā The greatest of blessings had been bequeathed upon a woman of lesser faith in the gardens and nature that surrounded the shrines here. As of yet, she knew too little of this countryās faith to have an opinion, to consider if she might be swayed to re-evaluate her stance on the subject, but the very beauty was enough to convince her that reconsideration may be worth giving a chance, at the very least. Bathed in sunlight, she felt herself soak up warmth ā her skin, her hair, her clothing, everythingĀ became saturated with that golden heat softened only by branches and leaves from beating down upon her. In her brief time here, Dorothea found herself constantly coming to the gardens to write and sing, to create, and if inspiration were a holy blessing, she possessed it in spades, gifted upon her by the nature soothing the tragedy which scarred her body.
Ā Ā Ā With lined parchment before her, Dorothea sketched out pieces of melodies that entered her brain, and were hummed from her lips. Some of them would be stitched together into full pieces, some would remain untouched until inspiration for those lone two to four bars of music struck once more at random⦠and some bars may even become acquainted with the flames that were Dorotheaās oldest friend. Right now, though, each little piece of melody or harmony seemed to piece together easily, coming from her heart filled to the brim with longing.
Ā Ā Ā Edelgard, a lady painted in shades of crimson, a leader of a revolution. Dorothea had the honor of calling herĀ āfriend,ā and she was the person Dorothea trusted most. She missed her dearly, and from that longing was born music both melancholy and true. She would honor her friend, the tragedies and scars they shared, and the bond they had forged with this music, and remember her fondly until they got to see each other once more.
Ā Ā Ā Dorothea was⦠well she was unequipped for that to be just this moment. Be it serendipity or the will of the princess or the deities, Dorothea cared not. Looking up at the sound of a voice that sent her heart into a fluttered rhythm, for how could it be this simple, Dorothea met the gaze of the very woman sheād been humming over.
Ā Ā Ā āEdieā¦ā The nameĀ was hushed, a reverie as she looked upon her friend bathed in the same warm gold she had previously been basking in alone. Her tone was louder when she spoke once again, but in her own ears, she was almost too loud ā as though she might break the sanctity of this moment.Ā āI⦠well⦠youāre here.ā She was a woman rarely stunned, but Edelgard was one of the rare people that possessed the capability of doing so to Dorothea.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āIām so uncertain of the terms of us being here still but, well selfish as it may be of me, Iām pleased to see you here too. To be here with you, rather than alone and longing for your company.ā She smiled then, wide and toothy, unable to temper the bubbling joy she threatened to boil over with. She should keep some semblance of resolve about her, she knew that, but instead of honoring such an idea, Dorothea set aside her bound parchment to bold up and embrace Edelgard in a firm embrace.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āSinging is my oldest companion, I could never stop, but Iād⦠rather have you than just my own voice.ā Her words are quieter now, whispers warm against the skin of Edelgardās ear, but filled to the brim with love and admiration.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āiām uncertain as well, dorothea. and while Iāve no doubt weāre here for a purpose... i have yet to discern exactly what that purpose may be.ā she supposed it was important, critical, even, if the rulers of terra had deemed it necessary to bring them here. but edelgard knew that those who held power did not always act with the best interests of their people in mindālet alone the wellness of outsiders.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā and yet several people from edelgardās own home world had been chosen, and it would be foolish to presume that it was mere coincidence. she had encountered claude first, and now someone dear to her in dorothea. her presence was a great comfort in the wake of these strange events, but edelgard couldnāt settle into comfort just yet... not while she was so determined to uncover the truth of their purpose here.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā but still, she softened in dorotheaās presence and embraceāthe melodic cadence of her voice serving to lessen the ever-present uneasiness edelgard felt.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āi can only agree with you. iām certainly glad that iām not alone here, as much as i wouldnāt wish these circumstances on youānor upon any of our friends... but surely this will be easier to navigate with each other.ā it had always been that way, indeed; without the strength of her allies, those that sheād leaned on during her darkest moments, edelgard knew she couldnāt have achieved half as much as she did. she pulled away from dorotheaās embrace then, as much as she did not want to, placing her hands softly on her friendās shoulders.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āwould you like to accompany me as i explore this place? iāve seen very little aside from my own living quartersāand iād much rather have you beside me than to do it alone.ā as much as their arrival here had been forced, their new reality seemed relatively normal, aside from the tales of strange nighttime disappearances. if they were forced to reside here at all, it only followed that they should understand the premises as fully as possible. and edelgard could not deny her desire to spend more time with dorotheaāperhaps theyād even discover a few moments of rest and respite in some tavern or garden.
