the moment he began to feel dizzy, a great feeling of despair rooted itself in Ian’s chest. he knew it had been too good to be true. appearing human was not the same thing as actually being human; he knew that, truly knew that, but a part of him wanted to hope that this new place he’d been brought to was his saving grace. as his water withdrawals set in, Ian had to face the very harsh fact that he was still a siren.

despite the mild panic setting in, Ian managed to collect his thoughts. he was in public, which meant he would either have to hurry home and hope he could make it to a water source before he passed out, or...find something else. thankfully, a quick look around was all it took to find what he hoped would be a temporary fix: a water fountain. hurriedly, Ian approached, pushed the button on the side, and stuck his head in the stream of water.

relief. for now. as he brushed his now soaked hair back, he realized he had an audience of one. they seemed to be focusing more on the fountain than on him, but...

“I know I’m pretty, but you don’t have to stare.”
