With pursed lips and an indignant expression, his eyes left hers for a moment to slap a hand over the echoing fire alarm, letting the shrieking noise dull down until the device wore out. With his height and stature, it didn’t take much effort. Watching to make sure the noise didn’t persist, his attention was then turned to what was of more significance: Food.

“Ha ha,” Steve uttered, grasping for a higher shelf which held, among other miscellaneous things, a container with dozens of take out menus scattered about. “Cooking may not be my forte, but I do know how to dial a phone, you know.” Holding up two different menus, he crooked an eyebrow. “Gina’s or Joe’s?”

However, sensing the unamused expression and the grave consequences if he did not get this young lady an edible meal, Steve put his culinary pride aside. “How ‘bout italian?”
