“Well your in luck because History is my area of expertise.” She grinned looking over at Axel. “why the Romans and not the British, I mean after all they were considered to be the new Rome?” She held the document closer, crinkling her forehead as she did, “these scans are very bad, but they seem to be about Roman Litigation. From what I can recall, the judge had to be Roman citizen of course. Both parties had to agree on a judge, and if they couldn’t there was a list of names of possible judges to pick from. And if none were able to suit their claim they had to pick the last one on the list.. This seems like an interesting document, where did you find it?”

“The Romans came first though...” He pointed out, shrugging softly and listened as she spoke. “I found it in my grandpa’s chest... and his roots date back very far in England.”

"I like history.. I was in law school for awhile so I like reading ancient texts about Roman law." Axel explained, watching her reading over the words. "I believe in you..."

The thought that she had completely taken advantage bothered her, so much so to the point she became disgusted with herself. She could only doubt herself more than she had been already. The look on her face was as clear as day until she winced in response to a sudden hard kick. “My God… I swear she’s running in there.” A mumble was uttered through gritted teeth as she looked back down at Axel. “… Pretty sure she hates me. Yeap. –– She hates me.”

Axel frowned, reaching to rub at her stomach, trying to sooth her pain and maybe relax their daughter’s kicking. “She’s like her parents... always running and working out.” He chuckled, kissing at her stomach and then kissing at her lips. “Do you want the heating pad?” 

Axel frowned, but was determined to find out where his friend had disappeared to. “He never told me he was leaving.” He sighed, rubbing at Jen’s shoulder in some attempt to comfort her. “How are you doing?”

“You’re not going to win... you definitely hustled me though.” 

“But they’re so easy to steal from.” 

“As an adult, I’m choosing to steal instead.” 

Albie’s eyebrows shot up his forehead. “You actually have done it?” He repeated, a tone of incredulity clear in his voice. “I’m sorry, I don’t like to judge, but what made you think that was alright?”

“My stomach justified it to me.”

Axel eyed the box as it was handed to him, scoffing slightly. “Gotcha... I was just gonna stand quietly in line anyways.” He shrugged, not seeing any point to talk to the man since he never made an effort to socialize. Axel smiled, rubbing at Emily’s shoulder in some effort to comfort her. "Its going to be one of the most stressful and anxiety causing day of your life... but it’s worth it if you’re happy.”

“Stealing does not exactly mean free. Okay, you can go steal some adult’s but I don’t think children will understand if one of their nuggets go missing.”

“If they don’t understand they were stolen, maybe they think like a fairy took them or some shit?” 

“I forgive you on the grounds that you look really cute when you act all confused like this,” Jess teased, laughing, “You’re going to be a stellar dad; it’s, like, written in the stars already.”

“I’m going to be like the dad in the mac’n’cheese commercials who steal all their kid’s food.” 

“Yeah, free food, but…children? Doesn’t that make it more not-okay than okay?”

“Well if I stole it from a grown man, he’d kick my ass.” 

“No, no, you’re not listening to me… I’m a real advocator of free food, especially nuggets. What I’m saying that it’s not okay to steal chicken nuggets from kids when they’re not looking if there are other people looking. People frown upon that shit and, you know, parents are kind of of crazy sometimes.”

“So like... if other people don’t see me... I can steal nuggets?”
