A World that Once Was…

Years ago, the world was a simpler place. Years ago, we were young and innocent children with very little worries. Years ago, technology was not so mainstream, and it didn’t take over our lives like it does now. Years ago, we went outside and made memories. Years ago, we were happy.

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of low stimulation cartoons. “Berenstain Bears,” “Stella & Sam,” “Pocoyo,” “Clifford the Big Red Dog,” and “Little Bear” were my personal favorites. I absolutely adored the simple animation, the peaceful background music, the calmer environments, the muted color palettes, and the cute, slice-of-life plots. They really helped me learn important skills and lessons about life. I’m sad to see this genre slowly fade away, because I do think it will be something enjoyable and useful for the future generations.

My favorite “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” special as a kid was their retelling of “Cindrella” titled “Minnierella.” It was such a cute and fun time. Even though it got rid of the stepmother and stepsisters aspect. But I guess that would be kind of of hard for Minnie. Anyway, my little sister loved this one too, and would watch it all the time as a kid. I think the part I like the most is that unlike Prince Charming, Mickey remembered Minnie perfectly, so he just needed to find her clubhouse and deliver her slipper to her, which wasn’t very hard since her clubhouse is pretty distinct. And it was like one of the two locations in the episode 🤣

Did anyone else have this DVD? 📀

This is Volume 1 of a DVD series of Disney princess sing-alongs. It featured songs like, “I’m Wishing/One Song,” “Part of Your World,” “Once Upon a Dream,” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” It even featured “Sweet Wings of Love” from “Mickey & The Three Mousketeers!” (bonus points if you remember that) In between the songs, there would be a narrator who would tell you about the next princess and their song.

There were also original songs like “If You Can Dream” and “Put it Together (Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo)” which were bops by the way 😁😁 I have lots of fond memories of watching this with my sisters and singing along together. I think my favorites were “Part of Your World,” “Like Other Girls,” “Reflection,” and “I’m Wishing/One Song”
