honestly, wednesday is tired.

she keeps needing to follow this mindless rouge across new york because it's the one thing her boss seems to care about and the wreck she leaves behind is already annoying enough to witness. to follow? downright insufferable.

to make everything worse, the city has been approaching the situation with nothing but celebrity worship. no matter where wednesday looks, spidergirl is there.

and she needs to write about it.

worse, even.

she needs to interview her. because the pictures and stories aren't enough anymore, not according to her boss, nothing makes them more compelling than any other newspaper. if she pulls this off, there's a promise that she will be able to publish short stories of her own. it's in moments like this that she regrets not letting her mother use her connections and the addams name to put her in a good publishing house.

so that explains why she's on a rooftop, hiding behind some crates at two in the morning. the struggle she can see is at least interesting; spidergirl is taking on four criminals at once, per her own research they're part of a drug ring that is trying to expand their products by also including young girls on the catalogue. as of now, every operation is a fail but she has likely seen the same social media post spidergirl did – the fact that she has to keep up with social media now is already blood boiling – about a girl who managed to escape them.

it's commendable how fast she acted. it's also commendable she managed to reach the conclusion of where the criminals would be only a few seconds after wednesday arrived. although, she could do with more quicker thinking. and finally, it's commendable how angrily she's fighting.

in all three years she has been following spidergirl, she has never seen her fight so erratically, with such little control. there's a tear on her torso from one of the guy's knives and wednesday needs to suppress the urge to help her. it would be detrimental to her.

she watches as spidergirl shoots her webs for the last time, there's four bodies lying unconscious on the floor, tied and gagged. wednesday can't help it, maybe being dramatic is in her body, so she stands to clap her hands in slow motion. the yelp she gets back is somewhat exhilarating.

"four in," she pauses to look at her watch. "six minutes and a half. impressive."

"who are you? what are you doing here? what the fuck!!" the vigilante blurts out.

"well. i thought you'd be more aware of your surroundings," she grabs a notepad on one of the inner pockets of her jacket and makes a note of the lack of perception.

"i don't have x-ray vision!"

she nods and makes a note of it as well. spidergirl walks in front of her and crosses her arms. even with the mask on and no idea of what her face might look like, wednesday knows she must be pouting.

"don't write that," spidergirl whines.

wednesday raises an eyebrow and looks up at her. "what an undignified sound."

spidergirl groans and sighs. her fingers touch the bridge of her nose in annoyance, wednesday finds that getting revenge is much better than she remembers.

"what do you want?" she asks.

wednesday notes the straightforwardness. "an interview."

"i don't give interviews."

"one about this burst. i think new yorkers deserve to know about the dangers they're facing." she counterattacks.

spidergirl narrows her eyes. wednesday refrains from asking about what technology makes her lens move as well, she knows it won't be answered.

"fine."

wednesday nods. police sirens start to sound. "can you take off the mask? it's unnerving."

spidergirl laughs. "listen, lady. you're beautiful, but you know i can't do that."

she raises an eyebrow at the adjective used, but shrugs. "sure." she pauses for a few seconds. "don't call me Lady again, you might be the one with powers but i have no issue with torturing you. Wednesday."

"it's Thursday."

she hissed in annoyance, surely taking so many hits must've messed with her brain. "my name."

"oh, got it! my bad," spidergirl scratches her neck. "you can call me Spidey!" wednesday just stares with the most disgusted expression she can manage. "yeah, won't happen. right?"

"you catch on quick, at least."

"hey! what's that supposed to mean?"

wednesday doesn't answer, but the sirens get louder. "so, where do you suppose we do this?"

spidergirl looks at the other rooftops and hisses. "um...do you have a house?"

"why would i let you in my house?" she's the one narrowing her eyes now.

"well, i can't take you to a cafe or to my house. people will see and i guarantee they'll come for you." when she sees wednesday has no reaction for that she puts her hands up. "hey, your choice. but it's super annoying, there's a reason why i hide my face."

"fine."

spidergirl stretches an arm for her. wednesday hears the cops storming the building and grits her teeth. she can't believe she's doing all of this for a job she doesn't even like. she steps into this stranger's arms and it's oddly comfortable.

"just be quick," she mumbles.

she rattles her address as spidergirl jumps off the building. it's an interesting experience, to say the least. she's being held incredibly tightly to not fall and her own hold will certainly bruise. but the wind on her face is nice.

the unstoppable chatter, flustered it seems, is less so.

she can feel blood on her fingertips and reminds herself she will need to play nurse before the interview happens.

wednesday will certainly ask for a raise after this.
