mei rolled her eyes playfully before she grabbed a slice of pizza to eat. it was weird that she was the one talking a lot this time, when it was usually the other way around with her and avi. âi know, right? i didnât think i would get like that.âÂ
âoh, thatâs⌠very smart, actually.â she nodded, looking a little impressed. âi was with inseong, for fuckâs sake. him and his friends donât seem to mind the hangovers. but yeah, i guess so.â she shrugged. âdamn, who knew that me going to college would be wild⌠and so illegal.âÂ
âMhm.. never trust boys.â Avi joked, winking at Mei. She knew that Mei was responsible enough to know who to trust, and her boyfriend sounded trustworthy enough actually.
âI know right! Youâre always so.. mature? Smart?â Avi couldnât find the right word. âBut hey, they always say that this is what college is for right? You should have fun.â
jaesonofpsyche:
âYou have a heart of a saint.â Jae replied, just trying to imagine what it was like to look over all of those kids. Just the thought of it made him shiver and never want to become counselor or any sort of authoritative figure.Â
âWhat? Are you telling me youâre the real life Weasley Family? Thatâs awesome! I personally always related to Ron or sometimes Neville. Poor kid never had a chance.â Jae laughed, reminiscing about one of his favorite books when he was a kid. His sister loved reading and she would give him her books to read. âWell thatâs nice to have something to remind you of home while youâre gone.â
Avi laughed, she was glad the boy liked her Weasley comparison. âI always really liked Luna, personally.â she smiled, talking about some of her favourite books from her childhood. âLunaâs from a weird family too, and she was made fun of.. It just fit.â she explained. âIâm sure you have many chances though. Not saying that as psychic, but I donât need to. Everyone has chances in their life, you just wait if you havenât come across anything yet.â she told him, gently patting his shoulder as she did. Sheâd just kind of paraphrased something her mom used to tell her as a kid, but it had always made her feel a little better.

jaesonofpsyche:
âIt probably doesnât help that youâre also Head of the Apollo cabin either.â Jae mused, just imagining the size of that cabin. So far, it was just him & Adamus ( including his dog but she barely took up any space ) so he really couldnât complain about the space. He had plenty. âThis is true. Itâs just me & my brother inside of our cabin. I have four siblings back at home & Iâm the youngest out of all of them. So Iâd much prefer to talk to Adamus then all of them back home. Do you have a huge family back home?â
âNo it doesnâtâ Avi agreed, smiling. âI donât mind though.â She loved her position as counsellor. Sheâd become one after only a few months at camp, and she was still proud of that.
âOh yeah, thatâs understandable.â she replied, then shrugged before continuing to talk, âYou could say that. Think the Weasleys from Harry Potter, but mostly female and more psychic than actual witches.â she said. Her family had been compared to the fictional ginger family so often now. A lot of the kids in elementary and middle school used it to bully her, but since she was a pretty huge Harry Potter fan, it had never really worked. âTheyâre a lot like my family here. Helps with homesickness.â she joked.

âhis high score in a video game, shut up.â she laughed too. mei covered her face in embarrassment and sighed. âit wasnât⌠that bad. in america, obviously. if i were in japan, iâd surely get into a huge scandal.â she knew that would happen if anyone found out, especially since she was still sixteen and one of the most famous faces in the country. âi donât even remember most of it? inseong told me i apparently got really giggly and⌠clingy?â she laughed. âlike i actually sat on the dudeâs lap and squished his cheeks, and then ranted about how cute he is.â mei groaned in embarrassment, she still couldnât believe she did that. âi had a hangover for two days straight, though. it was bad.â
Avi stifled a laugh, âOf course silly, I was just teasing.â she said, taking a bite of her food and listening to Mei further explaining what had happened. Mei didnât usually talk a lot about her life outside of camp. Then again Avi also didnât. Sure she talked about her family sometimes, but never really about anything else. Still, Avi liked hearing about Meiâs life in the mortal world.
âYou, giggly and clingy?â now there was something Avi would like to witness. She could kind of imagine it, Mei had her moments after all. But sheâd like to see what this drunk version of her best friend was like. All in due time she guessed. She laughed at the hangover comment. âMy older cousins used to give me tips, like before I went to parties. I never needed them, but they always told me to start drinking glasses of water between every glass of alcohol after having like... three glasses.â she told Mei, âIâm guessing it being your first time drinking didnât help much?â

after a long day of training, mei didnât mind filling up a whole plate with food at that moment. after making the little offering to her father, she returned back to her seat and faced her friend. âhuh? oh⌠nothing really interesting?â she shrugged. âdonât look at me like that, i swear nothing interesting happened.â mei chuckled. âokay, nothing other than the fact that i beat his high score about fifteen times, and iâve also⌠had my first drink at some college party.â she said the last part quietly, seeming like she was a little ashamed of herself. mei was usually a very mature person, she couldnât believe she ended up doing that.Â
Avi almost forgot to make an offering to her dad. She still needed to get back in the routine at camp it seemed. She followed Mei, dropping some of her food in the fire and returning back to the table.Â
âHis high score at what? Seems very romantic.â Avi giggled. Her eyes grew wide at her friendâs next comment. âOoohhh. Underage drinking, good for you.â she laughed heartily. Either the Hermes kids or the Dionysus kids - or maybe a mixture of both - seemed to have no problem smuggling alcoholic beverages into camp, she was used to it by now. Sheâd never tried anything herself though, and neither had Mei, until now apparently. âYou seem... embarrassed. What happened?â she asked eagerly. Mei should know by now that Aviâs curiosty often got the better of her. âDid you do something weird?â
odyssxamageia:
As much as Odyssia hated talking about the reason sheâd come here in the first place, she could relate. âI had something like that happen.â As always, when mentioned, as if by clockwork, a phantom pain in her abdomen, where the scar is, began to ache. âI was attacked about three years ago, came for a year, and then stayed at home because my magic was strong enough to keep them at bay, until, suddenly.. it wasnât.â She trails off, her voice going quiet as her expression falls. The mention of godly parents perks her up again.
âI bet you do.â She was vaguely remembers that she already knows someone from her cabin, but canât quite put her finger on who. âIâm Issy, Odyssia, whichever. Sorry.â She laughs softly, extending a hand.
Avi reaches out as the girl speaks, gently putting her hand on her shoulder for a moment. âThey can be nasty pieces of work like that.â she tells her as a way to comfort her. Judging by the girlâs expression, her attack must have been worse than Aviâs. Avi had barely even really been attacked, but she senses that that isnât the case so much with this girl.
âNice to meet you Odyssia. Donât worry about it.â Avi smiles, happy that Odyssia seems to be cheering up. Theyâve reached the Apollo cabin, Avi pushes the door open, leading the way inside. They have to pass the living room on their way to Aviâs bedroom, which means Avi can catch a glimpse of the mess that she expected her cabin to be because of her absence, analyse the damage a little. However, it isnât actually that bad, and she sighs in relief. Most of her siblings seem to be out too, except for one unfamiliar dark haired boy who is sitting on one of the couches, playing guitar. Aviâd have to get acquainted with him later, now she swiftly moves on to her own bedroom, swinging the door wide open and dropping her bags on the floor. âI donât know how much sage I have left. I go through that stuff so quickly.â she says pulling a little chest-like box out from under her bed. Itâs where she keeps most of her herbs, though there are some bundles hanging from the ceiling too. âAh, look..â he grabs everything Issy said she needed, handing it to the other girl. âThere we go.â
jaesonofpsyche:
âIâm Jae, not head of the Psyche cabin.â He took Aviâs hand and shook it gently, feeling the relaxation started to steep in through her fingertips. That was nice. âOh, that sounds fun. I donât know about you, but for me, I feel like dealing with mortal family problems is always much worse than less mortal families.â
âNoted.â Avi laughed. âNice to meet you Jae.â she had never really had much contact with the Psyche kids in her 7 months at camp, her first impression was a pretty good one however. âI think for me itâs a tie. My siblings at camp actually remind me a lot of my family back in Washington.â she told him. Both were big, both were chaotic, both were lively and creative and warm. âDepends on how big your cabin is I guess, and also how bad your mortal family can be.â

odyssxamageia:
She grins at the other girl. Odyssia honestly couldnât believe that sheâd met someone else who knew so much about magic and healing, and yet wasnât one of her siblings. She could tell that they were going to get along. âHead of the Apollo cabin? Thatâs pretty cool.â Odyssia comments, nodding as they walk. âRelatively new, I guess. I came once a while ago, stayed home for a while, and then came back after some stuff happened.â Her side aches, a phantom pain for something that is no longer there. âIâm a daughter of Hecate, not a counselor though. Sounds like it would be cool.â
Avi nods, âI only arrived... about seven months ago.â she tells the other girl. âI got attacked by one of my classmates. Well, he wasnât a classmate after all, of course. Then some satyr, also posing as a classmate, saved me and brought me here.â she says, âSeems so long ago, but also... not.â Avi giggles, time had flown by since sheâd first arrived. She was such a different person from the lonely and lost girl whoâd gotten to camp. Sheâd truly found her purpose here.
âHecate? Thatâs so cool. I really like her. There are a lot of witches in my family. Well, not witches like you and your siblings, just psychic and herbal stuff. Thatâs how Apollo got to know my mom.â she rambles a bit, sheâd always been a bit secretive about her family. At school she didnât often receive positive reactions to their occupation. But at camp things were obviously different. Here the occult was mundane. âCounselor is cool, I really like it. I have a very... lively cabin though. Itâs a lot of work too.â she laughs, then realizes the girl hasnât said her name yet. Or maybe sheâd missed it while rambling about herself. âWhat was your name again?â
harrisonreids:
âDid you know that William Herschel, the man who discovered Uranus,â the son of Athena started off slowly, but as he continued to speak he began to speak faster, his level of excitement growing. âOriginally wanted to name the planet Georgium Sidus or Georgeâs Star after King George of England?â Harrison then took a brief pause, as he looked at the other person, waiting to see if they knew anything about it before he continued. âBut the other countries didnât like this- and they were going to name the planet Neptune. But a German Astronomer argued for it to be named Uranus and thus it became the only planet to be named after a Greek God!â By the time he finished speaking, a wide smile had grown across the young boyâs face as he practically bounced up and down on his toes. âIsnât that just fascinating?â
Avi nodded along to Harrisonâs story, trying to not get distracted by him continuously pronouncing Uranus with a pretty straight face. Sheâd actually read something about this before, but it had been a long time ago. âWasnât there already another planet called Neptune?â she asked, trying to act like this was the most normal conversation she could possibly have. âOr did that one get discovered later? Also why did that German guy want it to be... Uranus.â she continued firing questions, pausing briefly to pronounce Uranus with the same neutral expression as Harrison. It was probably childish to laugh about this right? If he could just.. act like there was nothing strange about the sound of that name, than surely so could she.
