Hey everyone! These are the skills I used to learn German in about two weeks! It takes a lot of work obviously but itâs so worth it. đâĄď¸
1. Use a language program like Memrise or Duolingo. I think that programs like these are super helpful for getting acquainted with the language you want to learn and for understanding basic grammar. I mostly use them as a break from the other work that I do but they are definitely good practice.
2. Make a list of the top 1,000 most common words and work on memorizing them in chunks. I worked on memorizing about 50-100 words a day. It sounds like a lot but many of the words are different verb tenses of the same word so it ends up being less work that you expect. Also, from using Memrise and Duolingo, a lot of the words were already familiar to me. I wrote a list of the words for the day each morning and during my breaks from school work I would quiz myself on them.
3. Watch lots of Youtube videos to study grammar and tenses. The internet is your friend when it comes to learning a new language so take advantage of the resources! I would google everything that confused me and watch videos on it until I felt like I really had a grasp. Doing this ensures that you have a strong foundation to learn new vocabulary.
4. Translate music from your main language into your target language and vice versa. This is a fun way that I would practice verb conjugations and my vocabulary recollection. Any word that I hadnât learned already, I would look up and be able to add it to my vocab list. Also, this is really fun practice and the rhythm made it easier to remember what I was learning.
5. Keep a post-it note to write down any questions you have or things that you donât understand. This way, you can remember to look up what was confusing you instead of forgetting what you donât know. By keeping track of what I understood well and what I needed to continue practicing, I was more organized in my practice and spent my time better.
This obviously isnât an easy way to learn a language but you defintiely get results based on the effort you put in. Message me if you have any other suggestions for langblrs, Iâm always interested in learning more!
What to do when youâre having a poor executive function day/been sitting in front of your computer for a few hours wondering why you canât do your work:Â
1. Take a deep breath - Let out all that anxiety over the project youâre doing so you can think clearly
2. Pull up a clean sheet of paper and something to write with - You can use a fresh word doc, new page in your journal or planner or whatever else works for you, the idea is that after this you will have a physical list to look at to help keep you on task.
3. Identify your obstacles (i.e. What is keeping you from doing this task?) - For example: Is it scary? If so, why? Does it feel too hard? Is there something else that you feel needs to be done first? Write these down!
4. Plan how to overcome your obstacles - This can take some creativity and some thinking to best figure out how to overcome the obstacle. Iâve included examples below for potential plans.
Example 1:
Obstacle: I donât know the best way to approach this task.
Plan: Brainstorm on paper ways that you might be able to approach this task. Google ways to accomplish this task. Review lecture notes or example homework problems on how to accomplish this task. Ask a friend/coworker/classmate how they might start the task. Write down everything you feel might be relevant until you feel like you know where to start and where to go.
Example 2:
Obstacle: This feels too big and overwhelming so I donât want to do it.
Plan: Break down the tasks into smaller, tiny tasks. Make them as small as you need to make them feel manageable. Write down all these tasks check them off as you go.Â
Example 3:
Obstacle: Iâm waiting for someone to get back to me with comments on this project but theyâre taking too long.
Plan: Follow up with this person and identify what you can do without their comments. For example, if youâre waiting for someone to sent you a section of a project or paper, write your section to the best of your ability. Can you have someone else review this project and still get good feedback. Or tell yourself youâll revise/edit your project and integrate their comments later when you get to them. Often when I identify what feels out of order, I can move past it or put it farther down my list so Iâm no longer just stuck waiting.
5. Encourage yourself and commend yourself for filling in the gaps actively that your brain couldnât do on itâs own today. - Youâre doing a great job!
Sincerely,
A Graduate Student with Adult ADHD
thank you so much!!! I needed this the most
An Overview of Note-Taking Styles
Note-taking is one of the most essential skills a student should master. It allows you to record and review information to be used in the future. But whatâs the best way to do so? Hereâs an overview of note-taking styles that can help you maximize your learning!
âeat the frog' method
Hi all, itâs werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method called âeat the frogâ, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! đ

Days of productivity 2/100
Hey guys! How are y'all?? hope you are doing well.. especially you. Today I researched on my physics project, completed my physics journal and studied BEE ie. Basic Electrical Engineering.
Tip #2
Make a schedule for yourself.
Everyone needs a schedule. Make yourself a
Slave to the Rhythm
Having a timetable makes life so much better. It make you feel obliged to get something done every single day. Eg. in my case, I have alloted 7pm-9pm everyday to revise classwork and rest of the time for self study.
Keep your timetable flexible. Also don't forget to take breaks inbetween depending on the load you have.
Love ya! Keep studying ( ââżâ )âĄ

Days Of Productivity 1/100
Hey guys! Happy New Month!
Today I revised Quantum mechanics. Just some light studying. Since I officially am a college student now, I have decided to hand out some free tips no one asked for which may or may not be useful.
College Student's tip #1
Make Lists. Everyday.
Making list always helps. Every morning, right after brushing my teeth I make sure to make a list of every trivial thing like, checking emails, doing chores, texting friends, researching for project, etc. and make sure I cross off my list atleast an hour before bed. There's no other feeling like getting everything done.
Be a Goal-Digger honey!
Here's the app that I use. It probably is available on iOS too.
Love ya. Keep studying (ăŁ.â á´ â.)ăŁ
How to Get Going When You Just Want to Stay In Bed and Be Nothing
Some days hit you like a ton of bricks, and for those who already struggle, those days can be even harder. Hopefully, these little tips can give you a boost in your darkest moments.
1. Open a window, let some light and fresh air in. You might not want it now, but it will help you feel better in the long run.
2. Take a shower. Sometimes, this can be more difficult than we expect, but thatâs okay. Just letting the water hit your back, or washing your face can make you feel more refreshed.
3. Work on a hobby that gets you going. Unfortunately, as good as it feels in the moment, lying in bed and watching netflix while the work you have piles up will only make you feel worse. Now, maybe you canât tackle your assignments right now, but sitting up and drawing your favourite character or watering your plants while blasting some music will get you in a better mindset.
4. Change your music. Sometimes we need to listen to a sad ass song and just get all our emotions out, but once thatâs done and dusted, donât dwell. Listen to some up-beat music (if I may, I recommend our Pick Me Up Playlist by You) and try to keep your environment from matching your mood.
5. Get a healthy snack and drink some water. Never underestimate the power of good nutrition. If you canât handle the thought of a full meal, some fruit will suffice for now. But remember what you eat fuels your body, so if you can bring yourself to fitting in a remotely well-balanced meal, youâll be all the better off.
6. Make a list, pick one, simple task, and get it done. Maybe you have laundry to do and itâs piling up. Maybe you have to wash down the kitchen counter. Maybe you have a worksheet for school. Maybe itâs just making the list. Whatever you need to get done, write it down, and rather than letting that overwhelm you, pick one thing from that list to tick off. Slowly but surely, you will be able to tackle the bigger things.
7. Go for a walk. Getting some fresh air and simple exercise will refresh you without tiring you out. Bring some water, or maybe make it a trip to get some of your favourite snacks and a smoothie from Jamba Juice. If youâre struggling to get up and out, having something nice to look forward too can motivate you.Â
8. Think of why youâre feeling this way, and then let it go. More often than not, there is a reason youâre struggling to get up and out. Understanding the root of this feeling can help you move past it, tackle it, or keep it from holding you back.
I know this is pretty standard advice, but I think we all need that little reminder every now and again.

This is Basic Electrical Engineering (A compulsory subject for all 1st year engineering students)
HEY guys I'm back from my break (you have the understatement of the year)
I'm doing great. Many things have happened since my last post. I was done with my finals, entrance tests, admissions. Now I'm in college. I have opted to study for a technical degree in Data Science.
I've always wanted to do something related to computers and statistics and so here I am content with the choice I made.
Yet I must say college life is difficult. I need to work hard on my own to perform well which is the biggest challenge.
I'm grateful you guys stuck with me, this account... I'll try and upload as often as I can. Might as well start another 100 days of productivity and actually follow it till the end.
Love ya.. Keep Studying ( ââżâ )âĄ
tips for college classes that nobody tells you
1. donât load your hardest classes in one semester. find out which classes within your major are rumored to be tough and divide them out throughout your time in college.
2. donât show up to class earlier than 10 mins early. the class before yours will likely still be in there finishing up, and youâll either walk in in the middle of a lecture or have to stand outside for a long time. just get there 5-10 mins early and youâll be fine!
3. create a group chat for all of your classes. find a few friends from class and make a group chat! this can be either on imessage, groupme, or whatever is most popular to use at your school. this can be your go-to place to ask questions about assignments, due dates, etc. before asking the professor!
4. as for class participation, quality>quantity. in most college classes (with the exception of huge lectures) participation accounts for a chunk of your grade, and some professors take that grade very seriously. however, this doesnât mean you should raise your hand and talk whenever you find the opportunity- your professor (and your classmates, for that matter) will appreciate you much more if your comments and questions are less frequent and have more to add to the class.Â
5. the readings listed under a date in a class are due for that class, they are not homework for the next class. this is one of the biggest issues college freshman have at the beginning of their first semester. unless the professor specifically says otherwise, if the syllabus is set up to list each class individually with the readings underneath/beside the class, they are due for that class, not the next one.
6. make yourself known to your professor! this is especially important for a large lecture, where they wonât get to know you otherwise. stop by their office hours or go up to them after class and introduce yourself- making a connection with your professor can open more doors than you may know!
7. rate my professor is not always accurate. professors can get better or worse, and different people have different experiences. though itâs a great tool and you can still use it to see what people think, if youâre stuck with a professor that is ranked low, it doesnât necessarily mean youâll have a bad time in that class.
8. sometimes itâs okay to just skim your readings. youâll find out soon enough if your professor basically goes over exactly what the reading says every class. if so, you only need to skim it over and take light notes. donât spend hours closely reading a textbook that your professor is just going to go over word for word the next day (unless it helps you- if so, do it!)
9. the guy in class that answers every question isnât smarter than you. thatâs it.
10. if you come from a lower income area or a worse school district than your peers, you may be playing the âcatch up gameâ for a while. itâs okay! i personally go to a college where most students here come from wealthy families across the world and were sent to the best high schools possible. if you, like me, come from a mediocre public school, you may feel like youâre a beat behind your peers when it comes to background knowledge. donât give up. work hard, youâll catch up with them soon. (also- they arenât smarter than you just because they had better opportunities than you did growing up. at the end of the day, you ended up at the same college)
I agree.
