“Does a park sound dangerous to you, Hollsy?” The man sounded amused as he spoke, peering at Holly with a grin as he did. “Does it even sound exotic at all?” Jeremiah was definitely glad that she took light of him staring, he wasn’t so sure everybody would. “Though, maybe a zoo or aquarium could be a good place?”

“I was trying to make a joke.” Holly huffed, pouting at the man as she shoved him lightly, a grin overtaking her face. “That’d be nice - somewhere with animals and water.” Her grin turned into a soft smile as she looked at Jeremiah - and she couldn’t help but stare herself, her heart racing in her chest and a slight tinge coming to her cheeks as her face warmed yet again. His staring and comment was stuck in her head now and she couldn’t help but to be drawn to his features.

Holly felt her face warm up at Jeremiah’s comment - a hand came up to her cheek as she stared wide-eyed at the man. He was usually honest with how he felt but this was almost too honest. It felt nearly intimate and she couldn’t help but shift and smile at the ground. “Smooth, soldier. Really smooth - though you’re quite handsome yourself.”

The man smiled, kissing the woman’s cheek with a quiet laugh. “I wasn’t trying to be, just being honest.” Jere shifted on his feet, however, staring again for a moment before he caught himself and simply gave her a quick hug. “We should–uh– we should go out and do something today, Hollsy.”

“Honest, huh?” Holly loved the sound of his laugh, feeling the quick hug he gave her as he was talking. She always wanted to hold on so tight when he did that - hold on tight and never let go. She always stopped herself. “What’d you have in mind, Garnett? Somewhere exotic? Dangerous? A park?”

11– stealing from them

“Holly?”Confusion was the only thing that could describe what he was feeling. What was she doing? He would have expected this from somebody he didn’t know as well– but Holly? His Holly? No– something was definitely not right with this. Maybe he was making an impossibly huge judgement error. After all, he did just walk in. He couldn’t wrap his head around it, tiredness clouding his thoughts after a long flight. He thought he could surprise her with his early return, though now it seemed the other way around with the surprising bit. This has just got to be a misunderstanding, he was sure of it. So he was calm when he walked over to hug her tight, taking the item from her hand and putting it back in the drawer as he kissed her cheek.“Is there a reason you’re going through this drawer or am I being delusional?”His voice seemed amused enough, though he was genuinely curious.

Holly looked surprised, a noise escaping her as Jeremiah called her name. Her arms wrapped around him tight and her eyes lit up in excitement. He was home early and she didn’t think anything could mar that. “Jere!” She leaned up to kiss his nose with a smile, and then she processed his question about the drawer. Her face turned red and she looked to the side. Her hands tightened around him as she shuffled, and her voice was a murmur as she answered. “I was just...I missed you, so I was gonna keep it by me for a bit, I...I do that when you’re gone, sometimes, nd then try to put them back as they were cuz I didn’t want you upset.” She hadn’t thought about the fact he might be a little more than upset at her for it, hadn’t thought about what it seemed like when he was gone, but now she was so acutely aware and ashamed that she felt sick.

Holly looked over to Simeon with a small smile, shifting over on the rock face to give him room to climb up. They had gone on a trip with Jeremiah and Celia, and Celia decided that they should get to know each other, so she sent Simeon to rock-climb with Holly while Jeremiah took her on a boat ride. So far, it had gone well. They talked amiably as they climbed, keeping a respectable amount of space whilst still being close enough to help each other up the steep cliffs. Suddenly Simeon stopped, and Holly looked down at the other. "Simeon? Are you okay?""I--I'm stuck.""Stuck--?""My gear's stuck."Holly carefully crawled back down to check it out - and then there was a rumble from above them and the two looked up."...What was that?""...Not good?"Simeon looked at the questioning tone and Holly looked back with a little grimace, shifting nearly behind him to try to get him unstuck - then the rumble happened again, and she pulled him close to her and pushed them against the cliff face to narrowly avoid a giant boulder that fell past them, the two wide-eyed and Holly took a deep breath, looking beneath her."...This is gonna hurt. Okay--"She pulled the boy to her, unhooking him from his gear, and pushed off, belaying down until her rope ended and then cutting it. They fell the rest of the way and Holly landed on her feet, hugging Simeon tight to her, the boy's legs around her waist and his arms around her neck with his eyes shut tight as the tell-tale rumble happened once more and she carried him into a cave to wait out the cascade."...So. Um. ...Adventures, huh?"Simeon looked startled as Holly grinned weakly at him, and then he laughed, and she laughed, the two talking amiably in the cave until the rocks stopped and they walked out of the cave and rejoined the others.(Later, Simeon ran up to Holly with a tight hug and a muttered thank you in her ear, and she hugged back and ruffled his hair and sent him on his way).
