This is a blog dedicated to just video game talk. It's not aimed at trying to get a lot of followers or have mass appeal...it's just a place for me to talk about my favorite hobby.
I currently play on Xbox Series X, but I have owned consoles from all of the current major companies. I have had the NES all the way up to the Wii, and I have owned a PS1 and PS2. (I also had a SEGA Dreamcast.)

As an Xbox owner...the only thing from Sony's State of Play that annoyed me slightly that I won't have is Psi-Ops.
Wolverine looks like it will be ok, but I am not a fan of the art style of that game and it also looks like one of those games that is constantly stopping the gameplay for story stuff and set piece moments. That gets on my nerves when a game's gameplay is constantly being interrupted.
As for God of War: Laufey...that also looks like it will probably be ok, but it will also suffer from the same type of start/stop gameplay that Wolverine is going to have. Also...the talking slime cube and the talking ribbon on a sword really does not mesh with the tone of that world.
I'm now seeing a mentality out there in the gaming space where people act like Xbox games should be on all platforms because "consoles are expensive now and everyone should be able to enjoy these Xbox games"...
Then you ask..."Ok...so when can we expect Playstation and Switch games on Xbox, then?"
Silence.
Being an Xbox player is like you're living in a world where your games and console are expected to play by a different set of rules that other two for some reason don't have to...and it's bullshit.
Nintendo fanboys are fucking pathetic. I've seen many of them on social media sucking off Nintendo for the way the handled their price increase of the Switch 2.

What the fuck are you morons talking about? A price increase is bad no matter what...and trying to find a way to make it a "win" when Nintendo does it is pathetic.
Xbox increasing their prices is bad.
Sony increasing their prices is bad.
And Nintendo increasing their prices is bad.
It's also hilarious to me that some of these fanboys also like to pretend that the Switch 2 is the most affordable console right now...pretending the Xbox Series S (a console that is more powerful than a Switch 2) doesn't exist.
I think it's telling how so many people right now are out there being against Xbox going back to having exclusives, but at the same time not saying a word about Nintendo or Sony putting there games on other platforms. People on Xbox would be more receptive to their games going to other platforms if the other two companies were doing the same thing, but they're not...and no one is really giving them shit for it.
I can easily take a guess as to at least one of the reasons why this is...because these are people who don't own an Xbox, but they want Xbox games.
Why do I...as a Xbox owner...have to buy another console to play certain games, but Playstation and Switch owners don't have to do the same?
I think...at the very least, if Xbox isn't going to go back to having exclusives...other platforms should have to wait at least 2 years to get them and/or Xbox owners should be able to buy them at a discount and other platforms have to pay full price.

I don't know who made this picture, but trying to pretend that the Switch 2 is the beginning of the 10th generation of consoles is absurd.
The Switch 2 is only as strong as a console from gen 8...and people want to pretend that is the beginning of a new gen?

So Sony is now out here saying they are going to use generative AI (aka...art theft) and Nintendo is now raising the price of the Switch 2.
Meanwhile, Xbox has lowered the price of Game Pass and has been making small steps to make better changes for Xbox in general.
This is weird...seeing Xbox doing good things and the competition doing bad things.
Man, some in the Nintendo community are not happy about the Star Fox announcement.
And people really seem upset about the character designs for the upcoming game. I don't see what the big deal is...but whatever.
Even though I would be happy if Simpsons: Hit N' Run and Burnout 3 would become backwards compatible on Xbox consoles...I would also be annoyed.
I had physical copies of those games...but about a year ago I sold Simpsons...and just a few months ago I sold Burnout 3. Something I wouldn't have done if those games would've been backwards compatible on my Xbox Series X.
This is something that happened to me before. I once had The Orange Box and Call of Duty Black Ops 1 for Xbox 360. I sold them...and then a few months later Microsoft introduced backwards compatibility to Xbox One...and that kind of pissed me off. (Once again, I wouldn't have sold them if I knew that was going to happen.)
So...it's been interesting to see how people have been reacting to this news about PS5 having games that have an expiration date if you are not connected to PSN.
Some people...have been upset about it.
But then there are others who are like "What's the big deal? You can't stay connected to the internet?" Where was this energy when Microsoft announced you'd have to be online to play games on the XBox One? (Something they ended up not doing because of the backlash it received.)
The hypocrisy never ends with some of these people.

This is kind of an odd joke because it doesn't really make a lot of sense.
Even though I do think it's cool that essentially a NEO GEO mini is coming out...I think all 10 games on it are already on Xbox and Playstation. I know I own a portion of them and I know there some I don't own, but are available on the Xbox store.
And not to mention the fact that you can emulate all 10 games perfectly on PC through emulation.
So...I'm not really sure what this picture's point is.
A game I keep meaning to go back to is Jet Set Radio. I got to a certain point in the game where the floaty controls were definitely causing me frustration.
I think another reason why I keep not playing it is because I played Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and I finished it. The controls are much better, the spray paint system is much better, and not having to collect spray cans to get more paint is also good.
I never got to play Jet Set Radio Future. I had an original Xbox, but I just never got that game. (I probably should have.) Something tells me I would've been into that more that the first game.

I played it back when it first came out when I was 18 years old. I'm in my 40s now. Like...this doesn't even make sense.

I HATE when teammates steal goals from me. I'm talking about the shots where you hit the ball...it's definitely going in...the other team isn't going to be able to get it...

...your teammate makes it a point to tap it right before it goes in the goal so they get credit for it.

Microsoft just announced the code name of the next Xbox console...Project Helix. There's not much to go on since that's all they have revealed. What I am worried is MS going to fuck this up and finally put the nail in Xbox...or will they be able to come back to their 360 days.
Things that I am concerned about:
The price - This is the biggest thing I am worried about. Before Sarah Bond quit MS...she said that the next Xbox was going to be a "premium" piece of hardware. People assumed from that Microsoft won't take a loss this time...and charge a higher price than usual. If they do this...not only will they price out a significant portion of their user base...but it will probably make Project Helix the last Xbox.
Exclusives - MS has to return to having exclusives on their consoles again...otherwise, it makes getting a Project Helix less enticing. I don't care how many Nintendo/Playstation/PC fanboys moan about this. You guys only are against this because you want Xbox games on YOUR platform.
Backwards compatibility - I think MS will try to make the games that are already BC...also BC on Project Helix. However, what I am concerned about is the method they will use to do it. I DEMAND that BC is native to the hardware and not stupid streaming games from the cloud. I don't want to have to depend on an internet connection to play games I PAID for.
AI integration - I am worried MS is going to try to shove AI into this new console in some way. MS wants a return on their investment in AI tech...and it feels like they are going to try to shove it into as many of their products as possible.
But as I said...the thing I am worried about the most is the price. We are living in world where most people are struggling financially...while at the same time AI bullshit has driven up the prices of computer components. If this thing is almost the price of a low-end gaming PC...while not having exclusives...there is no reason to buy it.
So..."Xbox is dead" again because they've made a change in management. So...Xbox is dead when they kept around the old management, but it's also dead now that they have new management that hasn't even done anything yet?
When are people just going to admit they don't actually know why they hate Xbox?
Funny how no one thought Playstation was dead when Jim Ryan left.
