Emily Waldon is a Sophmore, majoring in Public Relations. She's involved with APSU-TV News, "Unscripted Laughter", Alpha Sigma Alpha, and goes to the BCM. "Freshman year I wanted to be a Nursing student, but I took public relations and I absolutely fell in love with the Comm department. I was like 'I'm going to change my major!' and so I did. Luckily I changed it early enough so I'm good to go for graduation."
Liberty Bell, a Sophmore Theater Major, loves music. "I want to take my singing to the next level. I write my own songs. I'm about to start recording in Nashville... I just want to entertain. I want to bring joy to people."
Sarah Whiteford, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, is new to Austin Peay. "We've been here since July 1st. We're still getting the hang of things. We like to hike. We just discovered Dunbar State Park. We're going to check out the Greenway Trail. I want to do some of those Gov Outdoors programs, the kayaking trip, backpacking, hiking, we're still exploring the area... I'm originally from Paduchah so this isn't that far from home. I'm used to Land Between the Lakes, but I'd like to get to know more places around here."
Megan Borders is a sophmore majoring in Accounting. Megan: "I was determined to come here, I didn't plan on going anywhere else. I was just like 'Austin Peay, that's where I'm going!'" Austin Weaver is a sophmore majoring in Computer Science. "The convenience is what brought me to Austin Peay. It's close to where I live."

#TBT: Time to throw it back to every day as a college student. This photos shows an APSU student in the 1963 Farewell and Hail yearbook who just needed a little extra nap time in between classes. What’s your best advice for staying focused this semester, Govs?
(Farewell and Hail, 1963)
Nick Murphy is a graduate student studying choral conducting. He's originally from Alabama. "I had taught in middle school for five years, teaching music and chorus, and I worked in some churches as well. I decided I wanted to change, to get some more education, so I did." His goal is to one day teach at the collegiate level.
Colton Higgins is a Sophmore Engineering and Physics major. "I really enjoy hanging out in my hammock during my down time. I love Ultimate Frisbee. I really enjoy getting out there and having fun, hanging out with people, and throwing frisbee. It's a really good time. Anybody can come to play Ultimate Frisbee. It's on Wednesday every week at 5 o'clock at the intamural field."
Demetrius Payne, a Sophmore majoring in Computer Engineering Science and Cyber Security, already owns his own business repairing computers, "My deal is I've known about some of this stuff before I went into college. I'm kind of self-taught... I'm adding more to the plate here to grow my business."
Ryan Brewer, a Senior, is changing his major from General Studies to History. He's interested in making television, movies, and comics. "I came here just because my friends were coming here, didn't know what I wanted to do, realized the only things I was passionate about were movies, comics, and stories, so I said 'What do they have at Austin Peay?' which is why I started as a 'General Studies' because I had to Frankenstein a degree. I'll take a little bit of this and a little bit of that... I wanted to take [the class] Women in Film at Austin Peay because we have a lot of female characters that we've written [in comic books] that are inspired by the strong, independent, female protagonists like Wonder Woman]. Her character doesn't revolve around any kind of seduction. That's what inspired us... I took the [Women in Film] class because I wanted to see what they do right and what they do wrong. It's been kind of reassuring because so far we've kind of succeeded. Almost all of our characters have practical costumes. That was the first thing we wanted to do. She's a soldier, she's not going to go out there in a crop top to fight bad guys, she's going to wear armor!"

Raymin Vanover is a Freshman majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering. "I went to Northeast High School. I chose Austin Peay because they offered me a lot of money. With scholarships I got more than a free ride here."
Sami, 18, is a Freshmen, originally from India. He moved to Clarksville a year and a half ago with his mother. "The place where I'm from is always hot. It goes up to 105, but the coldest is 60 or 70. I saw snow for the first time after I moved to Clarksville. I had only seen snow on Tom & Jerry. It wasn't deep enough, but I tried my best to make a snowman and create a snow angel ... That was a neat experience for me."
It’s #ThrowbackThursday, Govs! Today is all about remembering G.H.O.S.T.
Are you going to G.H.O.S.T. this year?

Kordae Harris, Freshmen, Business Management major, is originally from Flint Michigan. "I moved to Murfreesboro two years ago because of the water crisis [in Flint]. It was horrible. You can take an empty jug and fill it up, and the water is brown. You can see it yourself. My mom was ready to go. She came to Tennessee on a visit and she said this is where she wanted to move to, so we just packed up and left with faith, and now we're here."
Ajoo Jang is a first year Nursing student, originally from Bhusan, Korea. She came here around 20 years ago. "I've always been fascinated with becoming a travel nurse. That's always been my dream. I want to go see super white snow and mountain areas. I love the cold air."

"Live your life to the fullest and no matter what keep on smiling!" Wesley Hall, a Senior, switched his major from English to General Studies. "I want to be a writer but ever since I took Micca [Terrell]'s class in radio [last semester] I fell in love with it so then I was like 'Hey, I want to try making my own podcast' so I actually started it."
Meghan Hankins is a sophmore, majoring in Public Relations. Her husband is a freshman majoring in Social Work. They have a 7 month old daughter. "My minor is in Event Planning, so if I can't do Public Relations, I can do event planning, which can be flexible with having children."
