spiderman brand new day and the importance of care. mj not loving peter due to not knowing him, but still caring about him enough to invite him up, to draw him, to send frank to watch him, to give him advice and be concerned. ned not remembering what spiderman means to him, but trying to find him anyway to thank him. frank worrying about this kid who is determined to save everybody he possibly could. peter caring about jean grey, taking a bullet for her despite almost all his interactions with her being antagonistic, because she exists, and she deserves so much better. jean crying over peter getting shot, because he was kind and promised to be there for her and made good on that promise immediately, even though she ended up there because of him. new york and their care for spidey.
peter parker and his care for everybody- his family, his friends, people he has never met, people who have continually tried to hurt him.
spiderman: brand new day and the importance of care of any kind.
"Oh bc I already loved and trusted laurent in book one!" babe, this is really not the flex you think it is
Sad that Harris (a fat character that is treated as more than just a silly gag to laugh at) will not be portrayed by a fat man BUT im already seeing the racist takes start and we're not gonna fucking do that, no using anti-fatphobia as a means to excuse racism. You can be frustrated that a fat role went to a non-fat actor (and i think we should talk about it because it happens constantly) but that's it, period, no "mmm but he's not ginger and pale" or whatever the fuck, no. Justice Smith get behind me
Tell me about it, I love justice since all the bright places but I was super bummed that Harris will not be portrayed as fat. You can put a many large cardigans you want on justice and he will still be undeniably super hot in the standard sense. And I honestly believe that in this ozempic and ed epidemic talking about choosing to not go for a chubby actor to play the romantic interest of a hockey player is the kind of debate that we should be having, it's just so horrible that we live in the kind of world that we simply can't without those disgusting racists freaks coming out (is it tm conspiracy theory of me to think that they were aware it would be so when they chose the first black leading actor of the show to this role specifically?)
Justice is an amazing actor and anyone who has seen anything he's at knows he'll make an incredible Harris, but it's still kind of a bummer that they really do simply refuse to let a character be fat and desirable

Some people saw hockey romance and thought the romance would be between a character and hockey, that's the only explanation for half these takes
Just finished a parade of horribles and I'm so excited about the next books!!! I mean >little spoiler< the scolopendra "solution" was so funny and kind unexpected! I also want to see some scenes in the surface, don't know if we're getting it but man can you imagine they invading the kinder facility and taking control from the outworlders? That would be fire
Season two hasn't even started filming yet and I'm already so exhausted of the tlg discourse. Honestly what kinda book do you normally read for those ones to fly over your head?
This whole rr hates shane thing is just pathetic, she didn't portrait him as selfish or a "villain", that's just how you guys read it cause 1 you babyfied him so much and 2 you can't read anything that goes one cm deeper than a perfect moral archetype. He was worried about loosing everything career related if he came out and he was proved fucking right in the book, what more did you want?
"Oh but she made it like shane was hurting ilya!", he was hurting ilya. In no moment any character but shane uses the word selfish, and when he does is clearly in a self-loathing moment, do you guys really take everything the characters think as inescapable truths? Or like it reflects the author's personal views? But when you're in a relationship and your partner doesn't react the way you wanted him you get hurt, does that make ilya selfish or the "villain"?
"The real villain should be homophobia!" And it is, there's a whole deal in which they decide to stand together against the institutions that represent that, it's there, in the fucking book.
Like fr rr is far from a great author, she rights gay hockey romances for fucks sake, but atp I believe her biggest mistake was overstemating the capacity of the readers to get what's not spelled out, maybe in the next book she should add author notes and everytime one of them think anything badly of themselves she says "that is not true, is just some bad self reflection"
Something about mordecai saying in the first book that it's important to remember that there are no true gods in the dungeon and something about carl being called a martyr and something about the huge leap of faith the former crawlers took going back in for faction wars and something about the messages in carl's book of boom and a banquet fit for a princess sounding like prayers something something
mordecai with donut and carl is such an embodiment of that one post that's like "is that my..? fuuuuck that's my circus. and are those? dammit, those are my monkeys."

Honestly, to this point, I was all about Bea not being a horrible person, just a really bad girlfriend, even the thing with donut doesn't put her (on my very personal moral code) any lower than any other person who sells, or even buys, pets. But this thing with Asher just crossed all the lines, I take it all back, she's terrible, she's completely insane, it's unfair that she's the only one who's relatively safe when they all have to go through this shit, I hate her.
Carl getting mad and attacking another crawler for the first time and he's screaming "you're a bully! that's why nobody likes you!", your honor, that's just a baby, yes, the 2m high man with the dynamite, it's a baby!
He said the same thing to his dad after his mom died.......... how can this man he so precious

Forever thinking about “Boston is nice too?” and wanting to throw up about it. Just sitting on the floor of a gym across from the stranger who would be the Shane of his existence like.
I am so far away from home. I am so afraid but I cannot show it. I’m going to be all on my own out there and people are not kind to me. I’ve always been alone, but never this kind of alone before. I don’t really know you, but you seemed kind. And earnest. You would not lie to me. Is it safe? Will I be happy there and safe? Boston is nice too?
Ougghhhhgg. My brave little bug I’mgping to be sick
no but seriously like
yuna was born and raised in montreal. david went to college there. they definitely took shane to metros games at the bell center growing up. he KNOWS montreal, at least a little bit. but ilya? he doesn’t know shit about boston. never been there in his fucking life. he speaks english, sure, but speaking a language and knowing literally anything else about a city, about a country, are such vastly different things.
and here’s this boy, who came to find him and introduce himself to ilya when he had absolutely no obligation to. and he tells him yeah, boston’s great too, and he believes him, because he’ll believe in anything if shane hollander says it.
Sometimes I feel like I just come here to post unpopular opinions but here I come.
I hate how people are acting as if all tlg problems are moved by Ilya's inability to communicate, as if it's his fault for not saying what he wanted clearly to Shane and that's justo so crazy, I'll make this argument in three points.
First, if you read the book and doesn't let fanfiction blur your vision you'll know that Ilya may be at fault for a lot of things, but not knowing Shane isn't one of them. If he sat down and told him, let's say at the beginning of tlg, that the plan wasn't working for him anymore Shane would undoubtedly freak the fuck out, and here we can argue if he would end up picking Ilya or hockey but it's undeniable that it would put Shane on a lot of stress and that he wouldn't handle it well.
Second, miscommunication is such a problem not only cause Shane isn't very good at talking or even understanding himself, Ilya is also from a culture (and, more importantly, from a family) that treats open communication, specially about things such as depression, as a weakness. Ilya's not a liberal boy from a loving home somewhere in western europe (or canada for that matter), it's unfair to his character to expect him to act as such.
And lastly, because that one tt got me really mad and started all this, I do think that it's your responsabilidade in a relationship to try and understand your partner and think about how your actions are affecting them. I say that to in no way put the blame on Shane, I honestly think that person or projecting saying Ilya "should communicate" when that's not a part of his character (yk, since he isn't real!) but if one talk about characters as if they're real people that should be blamed for not acting in a way you consider "healthy" their point would still be void because in those terms I still believe that in a real life relationship you own more to your partner than what he explicitly asks, and if you don't agree go listen to Olivia's begged.
That's it.

"Did I beat you in your own game?" but it's fitz in basically every plotline. Oh my unexpected son, and they say being mentally unstable doesn't take you places
I don't know what they think they're achieving with all this hate towards the possibility of Shane not taking the C from Ilya and just being happy in the Centaurs in general playing as equals to his husband as if that would be a horrible ending for him because they made it up in their minds that Shane is by far a better player than Ilya and that would put him a subservient position to Rozanov but could they please keep their heteronomativity away from my boys
