“Gotta keep these abs great for my guys,” he winked, before walking forward placing a hand on August’s naked chest. “If you weren’t so distracting I promise I would. Can’t I just praise yours instead of working on mine?” 

❛ Yeah, you do. The minute you lose those you lose the open invitation to my bed, ❜ he warned in a joking tone. ❛ No. I’m very shallow, I need you to stay hot, ❜ he smirked, tilting his head to the side. ❛ And if you keep on working out I get a show out of it. ❜

“Some people are incapable of just sitting back and indulging their lazy sides. I can’t say I’m too sad you’re back at it, though– it’s such a lovely view, after all.”

❛ I feel so bad for them -- poor overachievers. It is, isn’t it? I think this place never sees as many visitors as it does when I’m working out. You know you can get the view whenever you want though. ❜

“You’ve truly achieved your full potential with this, yes. Hmm– because you think I’m pretty to get rid of? Even when I’m passed out and drooling? Are you really going to give me a pet fish? I’ve never had a pet fish. I think I’d have to accept. Technically, yes– smaller fish are caught with nets, usually, but we went after tuna. No sharks this time. If I didn’t love your texts, sweetheart, I would’ve blocked your number ten times over by now. I really did miss you, you know.”

❛ I do think you’re too pretty, it’s really not fair, actually. I mean, the drooling should really destroy the whole image, but somehow it doesn’t. You are a case to be studied, to be honest. Yes, I really am. Of course you didn’t, you had whales and eels to keep you company, but here you need a marine companion too. He’s a great fish, I think you’ll like him. So it was fishing. I can’t believe you’d actually do that -- I’m wounded. Good, maybe next time don’t just abandon me. I can’t have people knowing I miss you, that would ruin my reputation. ❜

“Good for you. The adrenaline rush, I suppose. Some people find different ways of seeking it than others do.”

❛ And endorphins, those can be pretty great. ❜

“I agree. Mine was great. I didn’t really do much of anything except eat, watch Netflix, and spend some quality time with a friend here and there. Which is exactly how I like to spend my vacations. How was yours?

❛ Not a lot of Netflix, but a lot of eating and I guess partying fits the ‘quality time with friends’. I just wish it was longer, I could go for another week or two. ❜  

“Well, they haven’t given me a lot of material. I mean, they’re superheroes, for god’s sake. Dad is practically the template for patriotism, and Pops is one of the most loyal people I know.”

❛ Every parent gives you material, dude. You just gotta know where to look and want to play the angst teen part bad enough. ❜

“Working out can be great, I love to work out.” He said before staring appreciatively at August’s chest, “Or well, I love the view of you working out.” 

❛ Of course you do, Junior, ❜ he rolled his eyes. ❛ Eyes up here, Thorson. You’re here to work on those muscles, not to droll over these ones, ❜ he joked, pointing to the blond then to himself. 

“just a lot of shit, man.”

❛ No need to get so specif, man. I feel like I know all of your life problems now. ❜

“Oh, I know you wouldn’t. You know I trust you and your independence too much to do that. Mm, probably suffer very much.”

❛ Yes, and I wouldn’t rick losing that trust. I’m a good boy.  What were you up to while we were gone anyway? ❜

“Cause regular people feel bad about sitting on their asses for more than a week, so they all go to the gym during the first week of classes, vowing to do better this year, get into shape, blah, blah blah, but that only lasts a week before it all turns to shit.”

❛ Good thing we’re not regular. Then again, we wouldn’t be able to stop after only a week, so maybe regular people have it better than us in that one. ❜

“Well, I know I didn’t hear anything about underage drinking, because we already talked about how that’s against the law. Whether you’re on vacation or not. Of course, you’re welcome. And bananas, too. They’re good for muscle cramps.”

❛ Of course you didn’t, because there was none coming from me. I didn’t break any laws -- would never. What would I do without you, mom? ❜

“So then it’s a good thing that you don’t spend your vacation that way. All I’ve heard about it is that it’s rather intense.”

❛ Yeah, I’m good with my priorities. It’s pretty intense. I don’t know why or how, but people end up getting a little addicted to it. ❜

“look– i didn’t mean it okay??” esper gave the person an apologetic face. “i’ve just had a bad past week and i didn’t mean to take it out on you.” 

❛ Good, because the punching bag look doesn’t really work for me, ❜ he replied, quirking his eyebrow. ❛ What happened anyway? ❜

“Oh, I wouldn’t doubt that for a second. Fisheon– there’s that clever brain of yours at work. You hate it when I fall asleep and don’t text you back; he must’ve been such a disappointment. I hope you won’t be too hard on him for it and still find him a good home now that I’m back. Oh, you know, catching up with friends, seeing my father, went on a hunt, talked to some whales– they all say hello, of course, and that they’re desperate to meet you. I may have thought about coming home to your ridiculous texts, once or twice.”

❛ If I don’t use my clever brain to come up with the best pet names what’s it for, really? I hate that and you know I hate it, but you still do it -- why do I keep you around again? I wasn’t really disappointed, to be honest. I mean, that was a great Leon impersonation. How about you keep him? I bet you two have a lot to talk about, and you can have someone to talk in fish language around here. A hunt? Is Atlantean hunt just fishing? Or did you kill another shark? One day we will meet, whale friends. I knew you loved my texts. ❜

“No, man, it was just in the ocean. You know what, I blame my parents. Hey, now I finally have something to blame my parents for. Cool.”

❛ Then you’re in the clear. Just being in the ocean already makes it fun and not working out. Unless you start going for competitive marathon swimming. It only took you a few decades. ❜

“Same. I mean, I like to work out here and there just to keep my muscles in check. But I couldn’t make it an everyday thing during a vacation. Thats the time to have fun and relax.”

❛ We already have to work out daily and to exhaustion here, I just feel like a vacation should remain that. How was your break anyway? ❜
