Beau groaned as he tried to sit up straight, tilting his head a little bit to try and stretch it out. “Do you think there’s a spell to get a kink out of my neck?” He asked whoever was nearby, raising his hand up to try and rub it. “I have practice later, and I can barely look to the left. Anna couldn’t help the smile that grew on her lips as she saw her brother really smile for the first time in ages. “August, I’d make time for you.” And she had. Carved out a huge slot early in her day to make sure she found her brother and spent some time with him. She looked down at her feet for a moment, unsure of how to say what she needed to. “I just… Before we do anything, I need to say this.” She looked back up, smile slightly fallen from her face. “The other night… I was drunk and miserable. I didn’t mean to say what I said about Emrys. It just felt unfair, not being able to have you both… but my wording was wrong. I would never have said it that way had I been in a better state of mind. I just hope you can forgive me, Auggie.” She shifted awkwardly on her feet, new necklace dangling from her neck. It’d been an anonymous gift that morning. “Because I just want to be able to talk to my brother again, you know? Especially today. Can we just… pretend like nothing wrong for a few hours? Maybe get some breakfast, too.”
There was no denying in that, it was simply nice to know that Anna still wanted to see him. After everything, all the mess, everything caused by him, he wasn’t expecting it; and with people turning away from him, he was almost ready for Anna to do the same. “You don’t have to say this.” He responded, his own smile fading, his tone becoming a bit more stern. She had every right to feel the way she did. It hurt him like crazy, ripped into him like nothing else, but he still couldn’t blame her. He’d abandoned everyone, and he couldn’t just expect them to welcome him back. But now, especially now, he didn’t want her to feel bad; it was her birthday, after all. Without saying anything else, he walked over to Anna and pulled her into a hug, for what felt like the first time in years. Maybe he wanted to do so himself, but maybe he also just hoped it would make her feel better. “Of all people, you don’t have to apologize. Not now, not ever. Got it?” He assured her, letting go of her a few moments later. “Then we might as well start with breakfast, I’m starving.” Pretending that things were fine was the least he could do for her today.

“Takes one to know one, doesn’t it?” August argued back. “Then don’t start an argument, love. Makes you look like you’re desperate for a conversation.”

“Sooo much!” August grinned before growing serious. “Don’t tell anyone. Swear on it. But sometimes I kind of...remember things. Fragments. Or maybe feelings? Sometimes it’s just pain, but it’s never something completely certain. Imagine trying to recall the dream- it’s like you know what happened, but you can’t describe it. But it’s something, and I refuse to tell that to the ministry people.”

Anna had spent the majority of the morning looking for her brother. It was her birthday, and after a restless night of sleep, all she’d wanted was to find him and spend some time with him. It’d been so long since she’d felt alright, so long since she’d been stable enough to handle her emotions. But with Emrys and August both safe at Hogwarts, it felt as though her life was slowly falling back into place. She’d felt alright enough to seek August out, and now that he was in front of her, she felt almost a little embarrassed. Last since she’d seen him, she’d said some things she didn’t totally mean, and she hoped he wouldn’t push her away now. “I was just wondering if you have any plans today. I just… I thought we could have a little talk.”

Despite being well aware that today was Anna’s birthday, August wasn’t sure how to approach that. He was scared that he would disappoint her, that whatever he would do simply wouldn’t be enough. And it never would; nothing would be enough to make up fro what he had done, for everything he had missed. Still, he knew he had to try. So when Anna was the first one to find him, still early in the morning, August managed a smile, an actually genuine one, and looked over at his sister. “Anna.” He greeted her. “I’ve got nothing- and I’m happy to not just talk. If you want- or got the time today.” For all he knew, she had a whole celebration planned out. Not being inlcuded in it simply seemed normal.
Despite the way things had gone down between the two, August still wanted to find a way to wish Anna happy birthday. Both of them were adults at this point, and maybe it was silly, but after having had missed so much, having had not been there for so long, he was craving to make up for it. Even if Anna most likely did not want him to be around- not as much as he used to. ~ So he found himself in Hogsmeade, exploring the stores, trying to find something to buy to Anna, something that would be personal despite not actually being made for him. Bookstore didn’t seem to have anything. Sweets didn’t seem like it was enough. Eventually, he came across a small jewelry shop, figuring that, while he didn’t have that much money, he could at least see if he could find anything decent for Anna. Only, even that provided to be a challenge; he had absolutely no idea what Anna would like, and the whole thing was making August more and more frustrated. @seersybills

He’d lost track of how many drinks he’d had after 5, only thing he could remember was that he hadn’t stopped after that. What he did know was that everything was blurry after, and that he certainly didn’t make it back to his dorm. He wasn’t sure what time it was, or where he was when he woke up, startled by a loud noise. “Merlin!” Alastor quickly straightened up, a small frown on his face as he tried to spot the source of the noise. It took him a moment, eyes squinting, before he spotted the other figure. “What do you want?”

August was hungover, but then again, what else was new? Most of his evenings were spent in drunken slumber, mornings in ache, and afternoons working out- it was an odd routine, but a routine August had accepted. What was unusual, however, was to find someone else in his bed- and although he was clothed himself, he still woke up with a jump, effectively waking the other up. “What I want?” He hissed, more so due to the headache, rather than anything else. “What the hell are you doing here?”

“What’s it look like?” He held the camera up with a small smirk. “It’s the best time to photograph the grounds and get some time to think. Beats your thoughts being drowned out by the loud talking in the Great Hall.”
“You know you can go around, photographing the grounds at any time you want, right?” August asked the other doubtfully. It seemed like an odd way to spend time, but to each their own. “Now it just makes you look weird.”

“You started it.” So maybe August was acting absolutely childish, but he couldn’t help but let that comment slip out. “Exactly what it meant. You snapped before I could say anything- how’s that a promise for a decent conversation?”

Andrew hadn’t been much of people person recently, choosing to spend his time down by the Black Lake, distracting himself with a book or some homework. This time, he chose his camera–a muggle one his parents had gotten for him years ago–and was photographing whatever he found interesting. He was looking through the lens, turning around to find a good subject for a photo when someone walked into frame. “Huh,” he said, looking up from his camera. “I figured everyone would be up in the Great Hall for dinner.”
August paused, frowning a little when he realized that there was a camera pointed at him. “So did I.” He added. He’d been out for hours, not really feeling like going back to the few people that had remained in the castle over the holidays. “What are you doing here?”
