I am really glad I had the chance to take this class. I could never have had taken this class in my home university. Today it is very important to be multi-task and to know how to use digital media. That is what I learned when I interviewed journalists. Your degree is not efficient enough to get a job. But it doesn’t mean that you have no chance, because thanks to courses like this one, you acquire skills that are eventually going to be useful and almost essential. I didn’t know that I would be able to create a podcast or a movie. Even though I know I have such software as iMovie, or GarageBand, I would never thought that I could use them and create something that I am proud of. It is something to create a podcast or a movie, but I think that for most part, despite any problems on how to use those softwares, the main question was « what should I talk about ». Because it is one thing to do a movie, but making an interesting movie, with which people can relate, is another. 

B. What is one principle, technique, or concept will you take away from the course? 

In this class I really like the fact that we were the one telling our story. We almost never have the chance to express ourselves in class. Most time the professor says something and this is the way it must be. So I was really glad I was able to do that. But on the other hand, because I have never done this before, it was kind of complicated sometimes to find something to talk about. Also, I really thought that I was really bad at reading books and interpreting them. But when we had discussions in class, I felt more confident because I realized that even though sometimes I thought I didn’t understand what was the book about or its purpose, I actually did. And I also learned that there is not only one single interpretation of a book, because it is what I have been told my entire life. 

C. How was your relationship to creative writing changed after taking the course? 


Using those software and building a podcast or a video makes the story more real. So it is a good way for us to remember our story and everything we went through wether it has been good or bad. It gave me a kind of self-confidence, because I was the one building my story and I was able to put what I just learned into application. More, this class teaches us that our story does not have to be extraordinary to be told. It is the way we write or edit it that make it interesting.
