I can rest easy until 2028, without worrying about them screwing up Kateâs character again.
Letâs see who has two first-class degrees, and who barely scraped by with a third-class one.
If you accepted RTD2âs characterization of Kate and the direction of her storyline without blinking, you might want to ask yourself how many similar plots youâve already seen. On one hand, the writers keep telling us this female leader only knows work. On the other hand, they stuff herâthis woman who has no time for herself and only thinks about saving the worldâwith a younger boyfriend (Donât even try to figure out how they managed to squeeze him into Kateâs already busy schedule). And then, to top it all off, she gets lectured by this younger boyfriend on how to balance work and life.
Men always manage to find a way to lecture women. They just canât accept not being part of a womanâs story. Didnât it feel a little too familiar to you? Didnât anything feel off when it appeared in dw? Youâve become so used to it, itâs a pattern, it's a new normal. Iâm not even calling myself a Kate fan. But to those who claim to be fans, in your eyes, is this really all Kate deserves? Assembly-line storytelling in the entertainment industry? You donât question the premise at all. All you ever say is that Ibrahim shouldnât have died.
Do yourself a favor, eat fresh meals, not expired canned food. Stop making excuses for RTD. The Christmas special got canceled, doesnât that already tell you how bad the writing is? Even the people who used to insist the show was fine have gone quiet. This ship and the show can rot together.
Even if youâre in your fifties, even if youâve been divorced twice and have two children, even if youâre exhausted from working yourself to death every single day, you still have to be in a relationship. You work hard during the day, and at night, youâre still putting in overtime in bed. He says he wants to help you relax, but he ends up sleeping soundly, while youâre still working.
"You work very hard, we know that. But what peopleâre really interested in is your love lifeâŠoh no silly me, your personal life."
Oh, so youâre saying Ibrahim is here to help Kate balance work and life? But who asked those fxxking white old male writers to write him in the first place? Without him, Kate wouldnât need to balance anything. Donât you realize that what sheâs really trying to balance isnât her life, itâs him. She has to give up gardening, give up playing bridgeâthose are her real lifeâjust to balance him. Heâs like a foreign object invading the whole system. Are you fxxking telling me that gardening and playing bridge arenât her way of balancing work and finding some joy in life?
You people always say Kate doesnât have time for bridge or gardening anymore after her promotion. Right, so if she doesnât even have time for that, how does she still have time to deal with all the bedroom stuff? Is it really that she doesnât have time after her promotion, or is it that in RTDâs mind, playing bridge and gardening are just boring pastimes for when thereâs no man around? RTD loves men more than Kate ever could.
They stripped Kate of her real life, then shoved a man at her to teach her how to balance work and life, and they call that a ship. Thank you so much. No matter how much we curse you out, it still wouldnât be enoughđ„ž

Even if RTD leaves, he canât give Kate back to me. The mere existence of that ship has completely destroyed her, she has no way out anymore.
When will Jemma ever get to play a role where she and her daughter-in-law fall in love, team up to kill both of their husbands, get away with it, and raise their (grand)children together?
Look at this high-speed brain of mine, this is exactly what I need.
Hello, Tumblr. Iâm wondering are there people here who, from the very beginning, never accepted the characterization the RTD2's writers forced on Kate, and who arenât just praising what they do?
Thank goodness Doctor Who is Doctor Who. If it were just a TV show without any big background and supporters, with this level of quality, it would have been canceled long ago. Having such deep reserves really lets you get away with anything, waste however you like

That part where Ibrahim recites one of his fatherâs proverbs to Kate. I donât believe that with Kateâs level of education and knowledge, she wouldnât know at least something about famous sayings from other cultures. Kateâs reaction looked very much like, âKid, you think I didnât already know that?â
I have to say, these two are not the kind of people who would ever hit it off in conversationđ§
Princessđ„°đ„°
About the Doctor Who "secrecy", in my country, there was a major drama that everyone expected to be a huge hit. The production team kept everything under tight wraps⊠and then it ended up being a massive flop.
They eventually realized that excessive secrecy only makes audiences lose interest and attention, especially when there are so many new shows coming out each year. So they tried to compensate by flooding the audience with promotional stills and material right before the premiere. But by then, itâs already too little, too late.

Iâd like to ask: beyond simply "making Doctor Who", do the writers, producers, and the BBC itself have any other objectives or aspirations when creating the show?
For example, creating a strong female character who isnât one of the Doctorâs companions and doesnât rely on his "inspiration" to be capable? Aside from the fact that Kate is human and canât travel through time and space at will, is there any real reason she absolutely has to remain within the Doctorâs "sphere of influence"?
In my last post, I asked if a consistently capable and strong female leader is going to appear in a British TV show these days, why couldnât it be in Doctor Who? Why couldnât it be Kate? Donât they even dare to imagine it? Or does it go beyond the original creative intention of Doctor Who?
The unwritten rule in real life seems to be that women always come with all kinds of problems. But this is Doctor Who. We have a Time Lord with two hearts who keeps regenerating into a British, and even in that world, we still canât have this kind of female leader?
With that kind of attitude and that "just get by and hope for the best" mindset, whatâs the use of constantly shouting slogans about "exploring the characterâs depth"? Do they even have anything of substance in their heads? How much ink is actually in their pens? Can they even write it?
Of course, besides lacking the technical skill, thereâs also the fact that women are always treated as an afterthought, something to be adjusted and reassigned. Sure, theyâll say they want to explore the depth of a strong female character, but thatâs never the priority. Women, just accept being reassigned. There are too many things that come before you. Transgender, environmental protection, climate change and interspecies are always ahead of you. Theyâd rather pair you up with a man in a romance than focus on you as yourself.
After more than a decade of being a golden supporting character, Kate Stewartâs been treated like this. No wonder the leads are so terrible. Without the supporting cast to back them up, what are the leads even worth?
