I am always one for the separation of audience from creator and also one for never meet your heroes, but also, I would give anything to ask Lia Williams if she played Garland as infatuated with Carey on purpose. Like, she knew Garland was gay, that's text, that's info we have in the show, and she plays Garland in a way that reads (to me at least) as queer, but how much of the Garland/Carey dynamic was text, how much of that was put there by the actors, how much of that is just me being slightly bonkers about fucked up mentor/mentee dynamics?
I also wanna know if Garland was gay from the start, if that makes sense. Like the Sarah kiss was mentioned in S2, was she being written/played as gay in S1 also?
