I can’t believe this is even a controversy. Seriously, white people?

This isn’t a race issue! It is simply that LOCALS pronounce it a certain way, and outsiders another way. Ex. In Austin, TX, Guadalupe st. is pronounced “guadaloop” by locals Hispanic and white alike. Casa Grande typically is pronounced “gran-day”, but I have never heard an AZ native of any language or race pronounce it that way.

I live in AZ. It’s most definitely a race issue, white people don’t want to be embarrassed that they can’t pronounce words the way they’re meant to be said. I am white, I have white pronunciation, but I don’t go around correcting people who are clearly saying it the way it was intended because I’m actually the one saying it wrong. white people’s train of thought here is that a lack of language ability means you’re ‘stupid’. Because that’s how white people treat people who don’t speak English.

My grandpa's name was Guadalupe, I would never call him "Guadaloop." We're also from Texas and I've never heard any of my hispanic/Mexican family members pronounce it "Guadaloop." White Texans can speak for themselves.

Just to clarify I don’t live in Hell even though it’s 106 degrees and fire is everywhere.
