I am from the 757 Virginia area. We are known as Hampton Roads, The Tidewater and Coastal Virginia. 7-5-7 is our area code and it represents 7 cities which are Newport News, Hampton, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. You have the peninsula (Newport News + Hampton) and the South-side (Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Norfolk, Virginia Beach). You have our main bridges - James River Bridge, Hampton-Roads Bridge Tunnel, and The Monitor-Merrimack Bridge tunnel that connects us together.

Virginia Beach has always been prevalent to me because my mom would take us to The Ocean Front when we were kids. As I grew older - Va Beach became the Beach party spot for Spring Break, Memorial Day, and July 4th. I was 17 years old having the time of my life on “The Strip” (which is where you want to be, just walk up and down - hit all the clubs, parties, stores, restaurants, bars, hotels, etc).

Fast-forwarding to the later years…I felt like major events were missing from Virginia Beach. Yeah, we have concerts, conventions, and other festivals, too. But the only other festival that was awesome in my opinion for a person like me was the Africana Boardwalk Festival which comes around the end of August. The vibe at that festival was chill and catered to a more mature crowd. I did get to see one of my favorite bands, @thesosband (The S.O.S. Band) perform. It was amazing 🙌🏾. Anyways I still felt like after the Africana festival, that there wouldn’t be any more for me to attend. Who knew that @pharrell was working with Virginia Beach city officials to bring an awesome experience to our area? I surely didn’t . ———————————-
