Dana Mercer

“I don’t make a point to dig through your things to check your supplies, Dana.” playing it off like he was being thoughtful.  He may not be human, but he still had something of a bond with the woman.  Twitching his foot a bit, Alex stares up at the ceiling with his lips thinly pressing together in thought.

“Did you get any decent information from the discs I obtained?”  Knowing their luck of late, it was garbage.  Even the soldiers were being kept in the dark unless they were high ranking, and those bastards were keeping a surprisingly low profile.

Clicking her teeth in dismay at how quickly her brother was bent on getting the info about Blackwatch, she grabbed one of the sandwiches. As she unwrapped it and took a hefty bite from it, she answered with a mouthful, “There is some but a lot of it is just patrols that we already know about. I updated them and sent them to your cell phone.”

Alex had been gone for quite a number of hours without a word on where he had been off to.  That wasn’t really so uncommon.  He didn’t generally tell Dana where he was going, or how long he might be gone but when he came back he usually came back with something relevant to discuss.

Except he didn’t this time.

Entering the little hole in the wall, the hiding place the two had taken up residence, Alex closed the door behind him and made his way towards Dana with a grocery bag in hand.  Taking a few easy strides across the room, the virus would drop the bag next to her at the desk and leisurely make his way to the couch before flopping onto his back with his arms lacing behind his head and his legs crossing down the length of the cushions.

However, she felt a bit conscious of what he had bought, remembering the few times he had obtained some questionable meals or that the ones he bought were covered in the gore of the infected outside.

Deciding to take the time to tear her gaze away form her screen, she looked down at the bag as she saw that he at least gotten enough water bottles for the next couple of days and some sandwiches that didn’t look like they were squish. Her face grew a little bigger when she noticed he had gotten her the sweets and chips she liked this time until her face suddenly became flat expressioned.

She gave him an incredulous expression, clearly not feeling comfortable at the idea of a gun being in her home but after a few moments, she realized that he was right. She had to have some way to defend herself in case he wasn’t here.

☽ ││ “ Well, I wouldn’t say normal but… Close enough. “ 

 “ My VISR, it implied that there’s supposed to be some kind of beacon here but- “ He checked again, but the pulsating blue was no longer showing up on the map. Weird, that didn’t usually happen. “ the marker’s gone now, so… Must’ve been some kind of glitch? “ 

“Visor? Uh... yeah, I don’t think that’s possible yet without blinding yourself with a shit ton of data,” she laughed. “That’s seriously just talking in sci-fi roleplay, buddy.”

☽ ││  “ Know what? This… Blackwatch thing? Never heard of it. “

  There was a moment of hesitation before he answered. Being mistaken for a foreign division was not something he as used to. People not recognizing a Helljumper when they see one- is RARE. “

“...So you are just a normal marine?”

  ☽ ││ “ Woah! Alright, alright, just take it easy ma’am. I’m not asking for a fight- and you shouldn’t be either. “ The Helljumper raises his hands in return, but keeps his fingers splayed and palms empty of any weapon. As soon as the unfamiliar title hits his ears however, he lowers his hands again and tilts his head. It’s just a smidgen, but it’s there!

"Yeah! Blackwa--... wait, you don’t know?”

The virus squinted as it paused for a moment, taking a quick smell of the room and looking around. Everything seemed to be in order, but something felt out of the order, albeit slightly. It irritated it’s nose a bit.

“Are you wearin – Never mind. I’ll, uh, see you later.”

Giving an awkward wave and a little smile, Blacklight bode it’s temporary farewell before it turned once again and left, reaching towards the door but pausing to say one more thing.

She didn’t smell anything as she watched her brother leave. Hearing the three words said to her, Dana gave an idle smile as she replied, “Later...”

“I can get there within the hour after I get you your food. Where is this? Do you know when they’re going to start heading out?”

After doing a mock salute, she hopped over to her chair, sitting on it as it slid across the floor towards the computer as she began to look up a few files and information that could help her brother get through this without any trouble.
