Full poem below: “Fine By Me” I’ve stood amidst the diluted downpour of half-baked compliments. A sweet kiss, with subtleties of salt intermixed.
The ‘you’re nice, but…’ here-we-go-again. An endlessly spinning not-so-merry go ‘round where I’ve never just ‘fit’; I don’t meld with the mix.
That-awesome-moment-when your best friend leaves you behind to switch sides. To fit in with a group you’re not good enough for, nor ever will be.
It hurts, but who cares? I know you don’t.
‘It’s fine by me if you up-and-leave.’ That’s my personal take on the Andy Grammer hit. I’d rather you quit on me, than a half-baked friendship.
I don’t need another moment to sit and mull it over. I don’t need to think for another hour about the consequences. Stay in my life, or leave.
That’s just it. Who cares? I know you don’t.
I don’t need forced smiles, or to be fed lines. I don’t need your inability to look me in the eyes except to sell me a lie.
I’ve lost so many so- called ‘friends’ already. Who cares? I know I finally don’t.
