Here's another little excerpt from my fic! This one gives a better idea of some story dynamics.

Oooooo

You can dance, You can jive!

Your moms move back to back, pointing to each of you as they sing the lyrics they know by heart. Max has somehow managed to pull Oscar up onto the couch with him, and now they’re both jumping and singing the lyrics with their moms. Emily twirls your mom under her arm and she can’t stop laughing, trying to get through the lyrics with little success. 

The way that this tsitp au fic is already 6k words and I've only written two scenes and a flashback 😭 this fic gonna be long asf

Anyway, as a first little glance into the story, here are some excerpts from the first chapter and songs based on the relationships I've been writing:

Oscar

“I don’t know how you’re always able to do that.”

“Do what?”

“Make things better. Find things funny that the rest of us just think are annoying and awful.”

You don’t know what to say to that. It wasn’t even something you were consciously trying to do. But being around these people, in the place you’d grown up loving so much, you couldn’t help it.

“I mean, how can you not when we’re in the best place in the world?” You eventually say quietly, beginning to make your way up the porch stairs.

While you continue your attempt to stop Lando and Max from eating every single one of the baked goods left on the counter, Oscar stays outside on the porch steps.

Not doing much.

Just watching the waves roll in and back out again.

And thinking about how this summer was only beginning, but somehow everything about you already felt different.

He would never say it out loud, god forbid anyone else overhear and make this summer absolutely miserable for him.

But he had imagined the reunion in Cousins a thousand times since last August.

And not a single one of them could have prepared him for you.

Lando

He barely gets a word out before you’re grabbing his ankle, yanking him down under the water with you.

When he manages to open his eyes again, you're there in front of him with a grin you can barely hide. Your hair is floating in the water like it has a mind of its own, and the sunlight filtering through the waves above you catches in your eyes.

You’d changed a lot over the past few years.

But somehow, under the ocean water and knee-deep in the consequences of his best friend’s scheming, he realized that feeling hadn't gone away. The one that he’d been trying to outrun since that stupid Fourth of July balloon fight years ago. The one he'd learned to bury, afraid of what would happen if he didn't.

God, what was he doing?

Whatever spell he was under shatters the moment you give him the middle finger before resurfacing, gasping for air as Max and Oscar laugh from the dock.

“Oh my god Lan you should have seen yourself-”

“Oh shut it Max,” Lando coughs out, reaching a hand out of the water to push his curls back with far more frustration than he cared to acknowledge.

Also, as a bonus lil sneak peak, here's one of my favorite songs that has a big scene in one of the future chapters (arguably the one i'm most excited to write 😝:

IS THIS THING ON?

HELLOOOOO!!!! This is so scary but it is very nice to meet you all! I'm a resident F1 addict and thought it was about time I dipped my toes in a bit of fanfic writing. Gotta give back to the community and allat I suppose!

Anyway, I'm being so fr when I say I already have something cooking up. I recently rewatched tsitp and it is safe to say I'm incredibly invested in this show. However, as I was watching it, I (in my humblest of opinions) had a stroke of genius. I immediately conjured up a playlist for my vision (as one does) and began typing up something i'm veryyyyy excited about that I think is going to be a super cute and fairly/incredibly long fic.

Oscar and Lando just give me the Conrad and Jeremiah vibes. 😝

ANYWHO idk who will see this BUT i'm gonna be poking around the platform and cooking this up, although I am unsure how I will release it. That's a problem for future me to figure out though.
