Mother Like Mine
If the world had a mother like mine
She would haunt us in darkness for years
With nightmares and tricks of the mind
We would jump at mere whispers in ears
If the world had a mother like mine
She'd consume us in fires and war
No step would be free of landmines
We'd forget peace existed before
If the whole world were cursed with my mother
What a Hell of a world it would be
He would cower under the covers;
The Devil himself would be grieved
If the world had been raised by my mother
We'd worship abuse like it's love
Only to grow up and wonder
Why love's something to be afraid of
If the world had a mother like mine
We'd grind ourselves into dust
Or find the strength to draw the line
And say this ends with us.
