Adrien woke groggily and was surprised to find himself in a smaller, simpler bedroom. The cozy space was decorated much like before, but there was no trace of anything Gabriel had forced on him that he didn't like. Adrien was dressed in a white Persona 5 tee and green plaid pajama pants; comfy, normal attire that Gabriel would never have approved.
Adrien's memory of the last few days was foggy at best, but at least he felt calm and at peace. Well, save for not knowing where he was or why. Adrien climbed to his feet, senses on high alert, and headed into the adjacent hall. The blond boy's feet were silent on the faux-wood floors, or so he thought. Soon, he arrived in a modest kitchen and dining room that reminded him of Nino's house.
"Finally, you're up. You feeling alright, kit?"
The voice was unmistakable, but deeper than before, settling at the high end of the male vocal range. It was also less energetic than usual; a bone-deep exhaustion seeping through.
Plagg stood in pale, human form with jet-black hair and bright green eyes. The fallen god wore a black t-shirt with a cat pun on the chest, gray sweatpants, white tube socks, and some fuzzy black cat slippers.
"Fine, I think. Where are we? Why and how are you human?"
Plagg, despite his fatigue, gave a shit-eating grin.
"This is our new home. Adrien, I am your father."
As insane as that sounded, and as much as he needed to process, Adrien could not help but play along. He grabbed the refrigerator handle with his left hand, holding on as if his life depended on it.
"No, that's not true. That's impossible!"
Plagg chuckled, extending a hand.
"Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"
Adrien smiled, eyes wet, and grabbed his father's- no, his dad's hand. Plagg pulled his son into a tight hug, the two sharing a short laugh. After a moment, he pressed a chaste kiss to the boy's forehead.
"I love you, Adrien. More than all the cheese in the world."
