I mean I guess they have the next movie to bring it up too but itās so weird to me what they did with ella and bridget here. we did not mention that ella never went to the ball like she did in the original timeline so when and where did she meet charming and did things change for her at all??? how did the vks in their time actually prank bridget if the book was always going to be enchanted to curse them????
it seemed like they were building up to, well, not ella having done the prank since it seems she had no motivation to, but at the very least that ella being at the ball is what really triggered the events of bridget becoming evil.
this movie was fun, but not about that at all. and after sticking max with an abusive dad red decides no we canāt change the timeline anymore??? after being the one who stole the watch from the mad hatter and changing the past to make her life better??? and weāre supposed to like and agree with that decision???????
Since when has Ella never gone to the ball? Like, I'm sorry, but just because Evil Stepmother grounded her doesn't mean it made Ella not go. In the original fairy tale, Cinderella also wasn't allowed to go to the ball, but the Fairy Godmother helped her out regardless. The only thing Chloe did was give Lady Tremaine a reason to prevent Ella from going, but she would find it without Chloe's input.
The book freezes only those with bad intentions, but Uliana's gang literally has a token good member called Morgie, who's literally such a himbo that the book wouldn't even register him as evil because he doesn't even know what it truly means to be evil and for all he knows, he's just helping out his friend, which is rather a noble intention on his part. Morgie was the one to open the book, and Uliana never got frozen because she never needed to boast to Red and Chloe's faces that she won, because Red and Chloe, in the original timeline, never did Uliana's dirty work of getting the book.
Ella was never the one who pulled the prank. Stop framing my girl, she's innocent. Also, Ella being at the ball was never the problem either, the fuck?
Yes, because the entire movie is about how the consequences of Red's actions got completely out of hand, and messing with time travel even more could end up disastrously for everyone. Maddox can be rehabilitated in the new timeline (unlike Queen of Hearts, who couldn't even be defeated), and it's not like time travel would erase Max's memory of Maddox still not being a loving father. Max would still remember the Isle and the abuse, even if he were starting to gain memories.
But what do you know, in this new timeline, Red can still share the truth and bring some old memories back, as clearly Bridget still remembers "off with his head" subconsciously, so Max would get to now remember his loving father too, and Maddox will get to remember times when he wasn't mad, and how he very much sacrificed himself for Red's sake. Red may have stolen from Maddox, but did Maddox expect anything else? He'd know the watch is missing and that Red has it, and it would be only a matter of time before she uses it, and he would know that there's a good chance she could mess up, but better this than nothing, as things would get worse regardless.
I lowkey donāt have the energy to respond to most of this but two things: the morgie thing is not confirmed and a wild reach imo and second I explicitly said I donāt think ella pulled the prank because she had no motivation to do that. I didnāt think nor want her to be the one to pull the prank, but d4ās weak plot at the very least implied something happened specifically between ella and bridget (besides ella being ātoo busy with her princeā as bridget says which is also dumb because by the time of the ball thereās no indication ella would choose spending time with charming over helping her friend).

max's crash out was incredibly valid. what do you mean he lost his dad and has to accept it because it all worked out for red and chloe. i was incredibly stupid to think that the story would put everyone back to where they should be and have the message of family doesn't always have to be who you're related to as maddox was all red had but oh my gosh that poor boy. he was absolutely valid. i hope memories of both realities come back to maddox so max can have the dad he lost.
Shoutout to Disneyās Descendants for having the most vibes based worldbuilding Iāve ever seen in my life. Legitimately thinking about any of it for more than two seconds makes everything crumble apart logistically and I think thereās an art in that.

thinking out loud here. I always used to be very upset at how female characters in the fandoms I was in were treated by fans of a ship that that character āgot in the way of.ā i hated unnecessary character bashing in fics. i still generally donāt like to see it.
but thereās been this shift in fandom over the last few years, where more people have pointed this hate outā¦..but in a way that i vehemently disagree with.
first, thereās the sole focus on mlm ships. the pity for female characters who are hated on for getting in the way of them. and I would get it, exceptā¦.for some reason no one acknowledges that this also happens when a female character gets in the way of a straight ship. back in the old harry potter trenches I feel like no one hated ginny more than people shipped harry with hermione. when the rotbtd fandom was big, hiccup was shipped with jack frost, sure, but he was also largely shipped with merida and merricup fics included a dosage of astrid bashing. like, of course mlm shippers can be misogynistic, but itās not something solely special to them. i didnāt watch flash, but itās not just people who ship barry and leonard that pile hate on iris, and in fact from my casual views i have seen of the fandom, itās pretty much always people who ship barry with other women in the show saying that (and with iris itās also clearly racism but i digress). so in the name of defending female pixels people really let their homophobia show.
then the other thing is that this hate that people talk about isnāt about bashing in fics or calling the female characters names anymore. the āhateā is just not shipping her with her canon love interest. thatās not hate!! if someone just ships will and mike and doesnāt ship mike with eleven that is not hate on eleven. can it get there from the fans? sure. but ātaking her away from the boy she lovesā is not misogyny. same with ochako uraraka. choosing to not ship her with deku for whatever reason is not a slight against her. thereās this weird rally in the name of feminism and then you look closer and this supposedly feminist cause is ācan we just let this girl be in her straight relationship.ā
now there are times i squint at certain mlm shipsājegulus, for example, or the crossover project hail mary one, when it seems like thereās an overt reach to ship a male character with another male character so that you donāt have to ship them with the woman in their life. yāknow, ship what you want and no one should yuck your yum, but Iām slightly sus. (also not for nothing but james and grace both have male characters closer to them that theyāre not en masse shipped with, sirius because he belongs to remus ig, and carl is black so fandom canāt possibly ship their cutey nerdy white fav with him).
but those are here and there, and the weird thought that mlm ships of all things are whatās oppressing women (when women are majority of the ones shipping these pairings!!!) is so crazy. there is misogyny in fandom. people have internalized misogyny too, i donāt think any woman is totally safe from that. but youāre not the feminist you think you are for telling people that them reading and writing mlm is them always centering men š¤·š½āāļø
