Akra, female dragonborn barbarian.
I didn’t know a lot about this character going into the commission. It was to be a gift from the client to his girlfriend for her birthday / first D&D campaign!
Because of that, a lot of the questions/design choices that are usually made throughout the process were left on the safer side to try and avoid creating a character that was too specific and might not resemble what she had in mind.
All-in-all a lot of fun to work on!

I try and send updates through the process so if there are any major issues ( Ex. “The armour was supposed to be blue!” / “It would be cooler if the (x) were more like (y)” ) are caught as early as possible.

Adjustments to dress layers & sash.
Once I started painting the lower part of the dress I really wasn’t happy with how it was looking so I went back, applied some design basics ( big/med/small ) and re-worked it a little.
I think it ended up worth the extra time!
Quick update to the commission I’ve been working on. Some rendering done, going pretty smoothly so far. My process is generally applying flat colours -> Cel shading -> render/detailing Once I get the entire character painted out I will go back in and clean up edges/add more detail and make any colour corrections

Second design pass for a new commission, based off of the feedback on the thumbnails I posted previously.
Eliminated some designs that weren’t working for the character and combined elements that she did like!
I think she’s leaning closer to gypsy/sorceress at this point, maybe a dash of rogue in there. Looking forward to more feedback from the client to finalize the design.
