This is just a little journal of sorts, dedicated to my travels through the world of Second Life. I love exploring and making new friends, so I’m hoping to keep a semi-daily log of my activities!

Hello again!

Not much to report today, as I’ve been pretty sick past two days. Took everything in me to be on for only two hours!

However…

I went to a writing club today! Attendance was sparse (just the host, a friend of the host, and me!), but it was so nice! I had a really lovely time talking with the both of them.

I moved last year, and in the move, I lost access to the RL writing group I was part of. I enjoyed it so much, and I had only had the chance to attend for a few months, so it was pretty heartbreaking to leave it. That being said, I’m so grateful to be a part of a new one! And again, it’s all thanks to my friend Cachet.

I don’t have many pictures, since we literally just chatted for two hours, but I had so much fun! I even got some fun new writing prompts from the host to try out, and I got to listen to some great music. They even played a Men Without Hats song that wasn’t Safety Dance or Pop Goes The World! I was so excited!

I had also wanted to attend Tea & Rockets, hosted by the National Science Society, but I just couldn’t do it physically. There’s always next time!

Sorry for no update yesterday! Some days are busier and rougher than others, and yesterday definitely was one. Today was a good day, though!

For starters, Cachet invited me to her house again! She had given a tour of the land it’s on a few days ago, but I hadn’t been inside since it was still being worked on. It’s very pretty & well designed! She let me watch TV with her while she worked on stuff. It was fun; we learned about various historical events! That lasted a few hours, so I didn’t do too much for the first half of the day. However…

She said to meet up again at 6:00 SLT for some club time! I was a bit early, so I spent some time exploring. I went to an arcade at a place she took me to earlier; all the consoles worked and had real games on them! I didn’t get to play any, but it was exciting to see.

Homo Simpson was even there… (also? my fingers don’t work!)

I also checked out a place that sold Animation Override (AO) HUDs! Catchet suggested them to me earlier in the day while we were watching TV, so I did a little bit of research of my own before we inevitably go shopping together! I think I understand them a bit better now; they’re neat! (why do they keep offering free cigarettes!?)

After that, we went to a club called Virulent! It was disco night, which was a lot of fun; I love disco! I had a lot of fun, especially considering since I had a few high energy 70s dances. You can’t tell from these pics, though! I was doing Saturday night fever and everything! The hustle came on at one point, and I wished so bad I had the lindens to get a hustle dance animation! They were all so expensive. I guess that’s what you get with a complex custom animation, huh?

We only caught the second half of the set, so it wasn’t very long that we spent together. She did spend a few minutes showing me around though; it’s a very cute sim! I love the colors and decorations they have, it felt very happy there. They had, in addition to the club, an arcade, a beach, shops, and a pool. The tigers were so cute! There were two flanking the arcade door. I couldn’t get enough of them!

The pool also had a conversation pit section! That was the coolest addition by far, and sealed it as a place I’d like to visit again. Shame, though; apparently, they have “AI nights” for their club… All AI generated music! What’s wrong with real music!?

Lastly, I fixed my brightness setting! Now dark scenes aren't impossible to see; hooray!

Not much to report on today, really! I wasn’t feeling the best today & was a bit busy, so I didn’t get much of a chance to explore SL or anything. I’ve been having to get up between 3 & 4 AM lately, so I haven’t had a chance to really explore at the end of my days, haha.

I did do something fun today, though! I did some 3D modeling! Not very good, but! Still modeling!

There isn’t anything on SL at all relating to the constellation I chose to name myself after, so, I decided to make a pendant to put it on! I have a beefy computer, but this thing was so laggy to make… I think I may have inadvertently made it too detailed. But, I made something in 3D for the first time!

It’s too small, though…! And the rings representing the stars are a bit too big. I’ll figure it out! Fourth time’s the charm, right?

I only played for about an hour today, but I had a nice time!

I started off in what I consider to be my spawn point; the Sagan Planetarium! Nobody is ever there, and I love their little orry models all over the place. Plus, their big one is gorgeous, and they’ve got a great museum! It’s just a safe place for me, since it takes me a few minutes to warm up there.

After fiddling around with idle animations and a HUD, I went into the planetarium itself to try and get a good picture of my avatar for the blog! It took several tries, but I think I got it right. Maybe. I did end up standing in the same spot for a good five minutes, waiting for another planetary alignment like the one I saw when I first entered, but I wasn’t so lucky. I did get Uranus and Saturn together though, so that worked for me!

After that, I went outside, and saw a teleporter for the region; apparently, it’s all kid related stuff, but I didn’t know. I clicked on a place called Aspen Nights, since that sounded cool, but…

When I joined in and went into the first room I saw, it was a list of 22 dead/disappeared kid DJs/club members. A bit jarring, to say the least. They played good music though; XTC’s King For A Day was on full blast! Not going back though. And, there was a wood elf somewhere nearby the whole time. Freaky. They also had the Bonnie and Clyde car there for some reason.

Because I felt trapped, my new and currently only friend there, Cachet, gave me a TP to her house! She’s been very helpful, and even said she’d take me shopping with her friend! I’m really looking forward to it. Her house was amazing; it had a gorgeous skybox, a cave system, and tons of neat little details!

She even had cabbages!
