Comp of the first 5 days of mermay! Hopefully I get faster as I go but I’m actually having a lot of fun with this! I usually fail the month long challenges like these cause I get to caught up in making every piece perfect
I try to re-draw a mermaid I drew years ago every year as like a marker of improvement but I really struggled with this one. this is like the 3rd attempt and I’m not happy with it but I’ve just got to let it go and move on. at least it was a good learning experience of what not to do and when to scrap a piece completely

Portrait practice- I played around with using grayscale first and then adding color since it seems to be part of a lot of artists workflow, it was good for getting the values down quickly but I felt like I spent a ton of time trying to fix how muddy it looked and color correcting a lot, it’s still an interesting process and sometimes I want to play around with more
