Idiot Club

Habit’s ears twitch as Roxxie practically slams the door to his office open. He doesn’t look up as she strides over and sits down on the desk, shoving his paperwork away with a smug grin. Habit raises one eyebrow, trying to arrange the papers again.

“That’s my work, Roxxie.”

She scoffs, rolling her eyes and adjusting her furs-not that it stopped them from sliding down her arms.

“(5) Who cares, you can spare a few minutes for your dearest friend! (7)”

Habit doesn’t comment on her being wrong. Roxxie takes this as a sign to continue and triumphantly whips out a slip of paper from behind her back. She’s waving it around too much for Habit to actually see what it is.

“(5) Lookie what I found! (7)”

She slaps the paper down, crossing her arms with a grin. Habit looks down at it, surprised to see it’s an old photo. 

The photo is of a younger Habit and Roxxie, from a good few sweeps ago. Habit’s hair is long and messy, his face twisted up into a playful smirk. He’s wearing a simple black tank top, a spiked bracelet just barely visible on the arm slung around Roxxie’s shoulders. 

Roxxie is wearing a sleeveless sweater over a dress shirt, her hair short and just barely brushing her neck. Her makeup is perfectly made, her contacts gone just like the scar under her eye is. She’s beaming, like she was about to start laughing.

Habit’s eyes catch on a detail of his past selves appearance, a lump growing in his throat. His horns are intact in the photo. No gap carved into the side of them, just simple horns that jutted up like a wolves ears. His ears flatten down as he looks away from the photo, quickly trying to shake the memory away.

“That is..an impressive find, Roxxie.”

Roxxie cackles, throwing her head back.

“(5) Look at tiny Habit! Back when you weren’t so...(7)”

She grimaces, her face scrunching up as she gestures at him.

“(5)..Like that.(7)”

Habits ears twitch unhappily. What was wrong with his appearance? 

“Simple formal clothing is preferable over tacky dresses, thank you very much.”

Roxxie reels back, acting like she’s been mortally wounded.

“(5) My own friend! Betraying me! (7)”

Habit looks down at his paperwork, tone cold. He had work to do, he didn’t have time to entertain her antics.

“Yes, well, we all know what happened to the last troll.”

Roxxie freezes, her dramatic act dropping. She pulls her arms close to herself, crossing them as she looks away. She's silent for a moment, and when she speaks she sounds almost sullen.

“Jaybird had it comin.”

Habit doesn’t respond, staring at this papers. Jay was..well, he was Jay. And now he was gone, and that was just how it was.

“If you’ll excuse me, Roxxie, I need to go get a copy of next weeks schedule.”
