EMERGENCY COMMISSION PLEA
OK so I just found out this morning that my friend @tabby-paws (due to a quite frankly very abusive and manipulative situation) is going to go overdrawn because of an internet/TV bill that her mother (who should be paying it) is refusing to pay. The bill is in her name (because said mother is already on the internet company’s shitlist) and she’s flat broke and dependant on her mother placing the money in her account to not go overdrawn, get hit with fees, and get blacklisted by the company.

Bright clear fruits an cool water. Cotton mouth. The pang of biting ice. The smell of bleach.

“… Mistakes? Excess ‘noise’? … If you can show me what is not needed, I can trim it away.” He agreed, a note of hope creeping back into his voice. Of course, this still depended on Reboot being able to fix him, but for the first time, Eraser was seeing a future that held purpose beyond trying to find that long-ago-lost dead zone so he could block everything out. A future in which he was not alone.
A thought struck him, widening his eyelights as they shifted into little clovers in pink and white, and a chuckle actually escaped him, though its tone was a little odd, as though unpractised. “You know, Reboot… even if this doesn’t work… I don’t think I could go back to the way things were.” He murmured, fidgeting with one of his smaller namesakes. “It would mean… being mortal foes again. I can’t - I thought it, but… thinking you gone… it hurt. Is that part of friend?”
💻 Mhm, that would work.
He was happy to see that Eraser seemed willing to try. He tilted his head and smiled. He still had to figure out why Eraser was feeling the creation of the AU’s, how he was so linked to them.
It just didn’t make much sense.
💻 Yes, that is part of being friends. If you were gone, for good, I would be very sad, and lonely. Things may work out, or not, and if they don’t, we can still hang out and figure out other things.
There was that expression again, that warmth – why did a simple curve upwards in someone's mouth produce the feeling of warmth? It didn't seem to make sense, how could it? But... perhaps it was something only Reboot could do? Reboot did have a number of other special qualities. Or perhaps it was part of the friend thing? He didn't understand, but there were more important questions at hand.
His eyes widened at the other's words, and he was momentarily struck dumb. Reboot would miss him, if he were to vanish? “You would? ...I have tried to erase you many times.” He didn't know the words for it, but he was profoundly touched, and he did not have the experience with interpersonal communication to keep it out of his expression. “...Thank you.”
Was there any way he could help Reboot to remedy his situation? Not with his own abilities, he was sure, but... perhaps some perspective would be of use? “...Would it help at all if I were to tell you of my earlier memories? There may be clues in those...” He hoped so, anyway, as he didn't know what else he could turn to for leads.

He still wasn’t used to the soft, melodic sounds-that-did-not-hurt Reboot seemed to enjoy making, but… they were kind of pleasant. He decided against saying so, in case it invited consequences he hadn’t realised.
Oh, he was holding them up for him to see? He listened intently as the other described each food thing, his gaze solemn as he nodded his acknowledgement. “Eggs are good inside, bacon is good heated. Yes?” He repeated, as if to check that he had his facts straight.
“What is scrambled, for eggs?”
Reboot smiled and nodded his head.
💻 That’s right. When I break the shell, the egg yolks are inside. Scrambled, for eggs, is mixing it all up.
He placed the bacon slices into the other pan, humming again. his attention went to the food he was cooking for the both of them. No need to overwhelm his new friend. Scrambled would do for now.
That was an interesting concept, scrambled... “So two parts of the whole that are separate become one? Intriguing...” He mused softly aloud, watching as the other smiled. Something about the expression caused him to wish to continue looking, perhaps in hopes of understanding it, but the other had begun to take another action.
So the bacon went in the pan to be heated, hmm? That seemed to make sense... Wait, Reboot was making a sound, what was that sound? He initially expected it to hurt, but... it wasn't loud enough for that. For that matter, contrary to his expectations, it was actually kind of pleasant. “...What is that sound you're making called? Is it part of cooking?”

He fidgeted for a moment, as Reboot considered his words. What even was he, without his self-appointed task? Did he even have a purpose, beyond avoiding pain? He was… uncomfortable with that thought.
He glanced at Reboot when he heard the other begin to speak again, peering at him with a tense, unreadable expression. He took a breath, before nodding. “If nothing else, I can… defend while you create. If there is one like me, there… may be more.”
💻 Mm, I think that we can work together. Creating, sometimes, there’s things you don’t want to create, but it still happens. If you can trim out what’s unneeded, then that would work out. Yes?
It was a long shot, perhaps, but Reboot really did believe that he could make this work with Eraser. Plus, it would allow him to know him better. He didn’t see a downside to this at all.

Finding a seat, he lowered himself onto it, getting comfortable as his counterpart reached into the cold thing. “Which of those things was bacon, and which eggs? He wasn’t sure.
Reboot hummed as he worked around the area easily, before he stopped. He looked over his shoulder and smiled. Picking up and egg, and a slab of bacon, Reboot held them up so Eraser could see them.
💻 This is the egg. It’s got a hard shell that we crack, to get the yolks inside to eat.
💻 And this one, is the bacon. It’s meat. Not very good cold, but cooked, it’s great.
The short skeleton smiled, putting the items back on the counter. Fetching a pan, he put a bit of oil in it, so things wouldn’t stick, and started off by cooking the bacon.

The little squeeze to his hand puzzled him, but it didn’t hurt, so he decided to squeeze back with the same amount of force, glancing at the other to check whether he had performed this possible greeting ritual correctly.
“I suppose that would make sense…” The humming was… not unpleasant, not being loud enough to hurt him. He found himself vaguely anticipating where the rambling melody would go next. He startled slightly when the pad appeared, tensing - but the buttons turned down the brightness he’d begun to squint against.
He made a confused little sound, blinking, before giving the other a hesitant, slow smile. “I have… heard good things about something called ‘bacon’?”
💻 Bacon is so good.
Reboot smiled. Eggs and bacon could work. It was simple to make, and fairly quick, so they wouldn’t have to wait around. He looked up as they approached his place, now dimmed fairly low. Screens floated around, dimmed out considerably, as he guided Eraser to the kitchen area.
💻 You can sit, while I cook us eggs and bacon.
He said with a smile and went to the fridge. He opened it up, getting the eggs and bacon. Putting them on the counter, he fetched a pan, and turned on the stove, to heat it up.

He wasn’t sure why this was as nice as it was, but despite the voice of long, paranoid experience whispering to him that he shouldn’t get too cosy, he found that he could ignore it. He was comfortable, and comforted.
Would he have been so charitable, if their positions had been reversed? He tried not to think about what he likely would have done if Reboot had come to him in surrender - such an odd thought, though. The other had always seemed so indomitable.
“… I do not wish to fight you any more, either. But… how would we work… together? I erase, you create. Opposite.”
💻 Hm.
That was a problem, but at the same time, he felt like there was more to just erasing timelines entirely. If they could work together, couldn’t it mean that they were able to create something, and erase only the bad things, to let the timeline go on as planned?
💻 I…I think we could figure something out.
He smiled at Eraser.

Hands across his back, rubbing not-hard - it was a strangely soothing sensation, not one he was used to. The light nuzzling against his face was even more familiar, but somehow… somehow it was nice, and he wasn’t in the sort of mental state to try to analyse why rubbing faces together would be like that.
Was something funny? Perhaps he had missed something obvious - there was a smile on Reboot, but not one that felt mocking. “Friend?” The word felt warm, and faintly familiar, as though he’d heard it somewhere before. “I can try.. to friend.”
Reboot was snuggled comfortably like this, and with Eraser not voicing any discomfort, he figured it was okay to be like this. He closed his sockets, simply cherishing the moment he was having with the other.
Who would have thought that these two could get along? Probably not many.

He cocked his head as he listened, trying to piece together an impression of what he was being told, his own fingers curling around the other’s almost automatically as Reboot moved to help him up. He would have wondered about that, if he’d thought of it.
“Busy?” He contemplated that for a moment, before shaking his head. “No, I am not busy. I am… curious. What is a cartoon?” He still didn’t fully comprehend what a movie was, but he supposed that he wouldn’t know until he saw it.
He didn’t resist as Reboot began to lead him away, trailing along with him as he thought. He wasn’t totally unwary - if he had any cause for it, he’d act on his usual assumptions - but for now… For now, this was vaguely pleasant. “Food things?” That decided it for him. He might not know what movies were, but he knew he enjoyed food things.
He understood that he wasn’t good at describing things. So it would be better to show Eraser, probably. He smiled, giving Eraser’s hand a squeeze. He hummed lightly, as he guided the other to his place.
💻 Well, I think it’ll be easier if I show you.
As they neared his place, Reboot had his pad come out of nowhere. With his free hand, he pushed a few buttons on it, where the place he resided in, dimmed in light considerably, for Eraser’s sake.
He smiled at the other skeleton.
💻 Yes, food things. What would you like?

That smile looked so reassuring on Reboot, and there was a part of Eraser that couldn’t help finding his reaction to being complimented endearing, particularly knowing that the other likely hadn’t been expecting it, from that escaping breath.
He supposed that it was true, Reboot did have quite a bit of practise - and he himself had played a role in that. He hoped that cleaning up his havoc had lent the other an edge, as he had no idea how difficult helping him would be. A soft choking sound escaped as Reboot’s eyes slid shut and the other told him that he’d stop the pain - he wanted that so much, and now he actually believed that it could be achieved.
“I… believe you.” He murmured, still faintly amazed by the discovery that he believed in Reboot. He didn’t mind that the other wasn’t moving, finding his former foe’s closeness comforting. That was a point - former - he should really say something about that, shouldn’t he. “Reboot… whatever happens next, however it turns out… I do not think I can see you as an enemy any longer. An enemy… would not show me such kindness. What… what is the word for not an enemy?”
Reboot held on to the other, holding onto him. His hands rubbing his back gently, when he heard that choked sound, even if it was muffled. He smiled and nuzzled his cheekbone lightly, out of habit, to comfort the other.
Eraser had been through so much.
“Huh? Oh.” He chuckled lightly and smiled, blinking lightly. “A friend, would be a good word.” He said softly, head tilted to the side lightly. They weren’t acquaintances, not any more, so friends was perfect for them.

As Reboot stood, that hope danced faintly in his eyelights at the sight of a hand extended his way. His company was still sought - why that was pleasing, he didn’t know, but somehow he wasn’t questioning it, opting to take the offered hand instead.
“What is a movie?” He asked quizzically, puzzled. He brightened at the thought of eating some more of Reboot’s food things - that had been tasty before - and there was a pleasing symmetry to the idea of coming over to visit the other’s home after Reboot had visited him. “I think I would like that.”
“A movie is a form of entertainment. Its either cartoons, or real people. Its nice.” He said and smiled, fingers closing around Eraser’s hand to help him up to his feet.
Still, he did not let go of his hand, even when the other was standing.
“Well, if you want… Or maybe you’re busy.” He added quickly. He didn’t want to force the other either, into watching a movie with himself. He’d have to lower the luminosity in his home, though, so as to not hurt Eraser.
“I can make just about anything to eat as well.” He added, turning on his heels and starting to walk the way he had came in, to lead Eraser to his home.

He was tempted to poke again, and both cheeks this time, but… it felt as though the moment had passed. He wasn’t entirely sure why he’d done that, to be honest, but it had been amusing. what did Reboot’s slight noise mean - or perhaps it had no meaning? Eraser had the feeling that, where the other was concerned, he was prone to overthinking things rather more than he’d realised. After all, Reboot appeared genuinely pleased for him.
Never mind that, Reboot’s cheeks had flushed again - he was starting to wonder whether that was some kind of subconscious attempt at communication. It didn’t seem to be a cue he could control, so he doubted that Reboot could dictate it, but it had to mean something, surely… Huh. The other’s giggling sounded… pleasant. It reminded him of something, actually, but he wasn’t sure what. “Me too. It is… a refreshing change from the status quo. Regrettably, however, I have nothing else you have not seen.” Did that mean that Reboot would leave? He wasn’t sure… If he did, and Eraser followed him, the both of them would be fair game until Reboot’s territory… perhaps if he waited, and then snuck there? Then again, perhaps Reboot did not yet want to depart.
“Ah..” Nothing new to see? Well, that was a shame.
Reboot sat there idly, thinking for a moment. He perked up and looked over at Eraser, smiling. He stood up, dusting off his shorts and held out a hand for the other to take.
“I know, how about we watch a movie? You can come to my place, and I’ll make us some food too, that we can eat while we watch. How does that sound?”
And it would allow to share his space with Eraser, like the other had done for him. Of course, that meant he had to dim the place so his eyes wouldn’t get irritated, and he didn’t want to give him a headache either.
