Across the galaxy, far, far away on a gem controlled planet unknown to most of Homeworld…
Deep at work sits a diamond. From a distance, she seems rather imposing, a white and grey ghost of a gem. Well, that’s until you come closer and realize that she’s short, at least for a diamond. Black limb enhancer fingers whizz around her and she is deep in concentration.
Elsewhere in the office, two pearls sit in conversation over a screen, one pale grey, one pink.
“Do you think she’ll like it?” the pink one asks, eyebrows knitted as she frets over whatever she’s doing.
“Probably,” shrugs the grey pearl. “She always likes the gifts you bring her.”
“I know, Cy,” The pink pearl responded, making a few last swipes to the screen. “I still can’t believe you’re actually helping me with this. It’s not, well, typical for you.”
There was a silence that seemed to speak volumes about what was typical for Cy. Neither of them dared to vocalize it - they didn’t want to tell their diamond, no, not yet.
“Well,” Cy said at last. “It might help us gain some standing, or at least exposure for all that we do for gems that they don’t know about. That, Pi, is why I’m helping you.”
“I guess that makes sense. I think it’s done, do you want to give it to her?” Pi asked, closing the screen and handing the little control unit to Cy.
“We should do it together. It’s from both of us, after all.” Cy offered the unit back, and together they walked up to the throne where their diamond sat.
It was rather hard to get Sky Diamond’s attention - she was deep in the middle of reading the latest reports from her Labradorite kindergarten, which was very important considering the amount of pressure she was under to get these labradorites to grow properly.
However, get her attention they did. “What is it, Cy and Pi? Is something wrong?” Sky asked, turning her head to the pearls.
“Nothing’s wrong, but we made you a gift!” Pi said confidently, holding up the unit and Cy’s arm. A look of disgust crossed Cy’s face for naught but a moment as she suppressed it almost immediately.
“An ask blog!” Cy chirped, taking the spotlight. “We thought it might let gems both on the outskirts and outside of your court get to know you better! After all, you do do so much for Homeworld in this time of crisis, and barely anyone knows your name.”
“And!” Pi added, gently shoving Cy out of the way. “We’ve also got many of your elites in on this too! Mel, Doot, even General Milky Quartz and General-In-Chief Thunderegg!”
“Oh? This is a nice gift, and I would appreciate credit for our work,” Sky said, picking up the unit. It was a little small in her hands, but she could actually hold it, unlike the other diamonds. “Thank you, my pearls. I shall put it to good use, even if I cannot be on all the time.”
“In that case,” Cy said loftily, “shall I open it for questions?”
“That would be appreciated.”
(OOC: Welcome to Ask Sky Diamond! Sky Diamond is a defective diamond who has her own little court and colonies in the corner of the universe.
This blog has been under development for a good while now, and is finally open to questions! Please feel free to ask whatever you’d like, so long as it follows my rules, which honestly aren’t that big of a deal.
