In the end it just depends on what you’re comfortable with telling them. Though, I can honestly say that when people who are aware of my aromanticism asked me out, I might find it a bit irritating. I guess to maintain a healthy, non-awkward platonic relationship, you could confess to them, but just for your’s and their safety and comfort, expect them to still want to be just friends. 

Aromanticism still does not mean you cannot be intimate in any way with another, as long as both of you are consenting, you can both venture off into a friendship that makes both of you happy and comfortable.

In my personal experience, I found that part of being aro/ace spectrum was the fact that I was awkward with relationships in general, and that’s a-okay! 

Awkwardness can also translate into preferences, because it just isn’t your preference! (same goes for any other orientation, honestly)
