“More than Pietro, it took years to get Mom and my Aunt to call me that. Wanda was pretty willing to call me by it but it took them Months to get them used to it. Gram and Gramp still insist on Peitro though.”
Once in awhile his Gram would call him Peter, but usually it was alway ‘Pietro’ when they talked on the phone or visited. He was glade that he had thought to ask though, because a lot of kids in school had always gone by nicknames because of other kids before he’d been taken out and home schooled, after a second of thought he made a face at the talk of names and added.
“Also better than when Tatiana was little and called me ‘pee pee’ because she couldn’t say Pietro or Peter to; Wanda, Mom and Jack thought it was hilarious though.“
Gram and Gramp. More relatives he has, through tenuous bonds of blood and DNA at least, that he has never met or even heard of. He has to wonder if they are aware of him, who he is, and what he can do; how aware they are of their grandchildren and what talents they possess. For now, it is best not to think that he has any connection with these people, and to avoid thinking of them as potential members of his family. He has no real family.
Only his children.
It’s impossible not to grin at that; it isn’t even a joke Peter’s told, though he knows by now that the boy is full of sarcastic wit and in possession of a wicked sense of humor. By now Erik knows children well enough, and he can remember similar ways Nina had made do with pronouncing words she hadn’t quite gotten the grasp of.
“Peter it is, then. For now.” Erik inclines his head, palms resting on his knees. There’s a certain awkwardness, still. This ought not feel like an interview, and yet this is precisely what it is. “What else can you tell me, that I ought to already know about my son?”
At Erik’s comment of ‘my son’ Peter had to slow himself a little, or rather speed up in order to process and digest it quicker. It sounded good to him, it sounded right. Jack had referred to him and Wanda as his kids and cared about them when he came into their Mother’s life. But it had never felt right, despite the fact he’d always treated them great; even when Peter made it difficult because of his habit of thieving.
“Bit of a klepto, then again you might have guessed that seeing as they managed to convince me to break you out of one of the most guarded places in the country. Also heal pretty quick which is why I was out of the cast within a few days, think it's a balance thing with my powers since running so fast makes it easy to get all kinds of injuries.”
There was a small pause, or rather long by Peter's standards, before he told him. “I didn't actually know until after we got you out, when I got home I was thinking about it and I asked Mom. She didn't exactly want to tell me but said if I wanted to know she wouldn't keep it from me. She said you'd always been good to her but she didn't tell you because you were so determined to go after some guy from your past; but that she didn't really know all the details. Just that she didn't want me and Wanda involved and so she moved with my Aunt instead and made a new life.”
If I should die tomorrow
Know this of me
All I ever wanted to do
Was some good in this world
And I did try
God did I try.

PETER:
Continued from @ofmysticism
Peter knew what she said was true, and honestly? He agreed with her statement completely, if people didn’t have the chance to hurt you then they didn’t have the chance to make life worth while either. But still…
“I noticed something was off awhile ago, but I only recently asked Hank to run some tests…he said my cells are replacing themselves almost faster then there dying. I’ve basically stopped aging, I’m going to out live everyone I know at this rate. Tiana, my cousin’s…Wanda.”
The idea of outliving Wanda was the most concerning to him, he’d never had to live knowing that she wasn’t there. Even when they weren’t near each other he always knew that she was there, that she knew if he was safe of not, knew if he was looking for her, knew if he needed her. They had been best friends longer than they had been alive.
asking advice to raven seemed UNWISE to the woman, but still she understood — it was nice to have someone to talk to, SINCERELY, someone who could understand you if just the slightest bit. even if her childhood hadn’t been the happiest, she could never THANK charles enough for what he gave to her. not the roof, the food — but the company, and the knowledge that she wasn't THE ONLY MUTANT in the world.
listening to peter’s explanation, raven did her best to keep her face straight. peter’s confession was closer to her than he could have known – unless someone told him – and a wave of UNDERSTANDING flooded through the woman.
’ it's scary, of course. ’ she recognized, before making a pause, and admitting. ’ —- i do have the same PROBLEM. i do not age like the rest, and apparently i’m gonna live a long, LONG time unless something happens. ’ which was probable. being an x-men wasn’t the SAFEST of jobs. ’ it’s gonna sound so cliche, but i think we really have to enjoy what we have NOW. nothing can assure us what’s awaiting for us in the future. ’
"It's more than scary--my Mother I expected to lose at some point, everyone buries their parents. But Tiana? My cousins? Wanda? I don't--Wanda and I aren't right without each other, we were best friends before we were born. When she left in order to finally get control of her powers, it wasn't right. Even with her talking to me using her powers when could."
He was glad Raven understood, that there was someone who understood the situation he now found himself in. Really he wasn't sure how to deal with it, but he was sure that venting to Raven would help him at least accept it. And if he accepted it he could move on to dealing with it--by not letting it dictate his life.
Peter could clearly see the way he reacted to the question, there wasn’t much the got past him when he was focusing one something or someone like he was at the moment with Erik. His heightened speed gave him a unique perspective of the world, sure, sometimes he missed obvious things. The many scars from little things well running was a testament to that. But it if talking to someone he didn’t know very well and he focused on them? He could pick up on their specific body language easy; the fact that Erik didn’t seem to be trying very hard to hide the way talking about Nina affected him helped to.
“I bet Wanda would have loved meeting her, she’s great with kids.”
He couldn’t help but grin at the comment, they had both been excited to meet Tiana when she was born. But Wanda had helped out with her more, and had clearly been the favorite of the siblings before she was sent away to try and help her gain control; both so that she didn’t her other people or herself by accident. He almost wondered if maybe he should have tried a bit harder to find Erik, asked for Charles help maybe—but he wasn’t going to let himself go down a path of what if’s and maybe’s. He couldn’t change the past any more than anyone else could…well as far as anyone knew at the point no one could change what happened.
“My…full name is Pietro, I don’t ever use it but I figured you should know. Peter’s easier.”
“Pietro,” he repeats, and laughs a bit. Pietro and Wanda. The name doesn’t seem to suit him at all, and while he may not look like a Peter, he looks even less like a Pietro, and Erik can’t imagine a boy like him growing up into a name like that. Even so, if one day he grows to prefer it, Erik will support and encourage that point of view.
There is a moment of silence as Erik considers something, eyes drifting, even closing for a moment. Wanda would have loved her, and Peter would have loved her too, and Nina would have loved them both back with a fierce passion only a younger sibling can feel for older ones. She’d have looked up to them, followed in their footsteps, and relied on them for protection and advice. The thought makes him smile, even if deep inside, there is a terrible sadness attached to thoughts like these. Impossibilities.
“Do you prefer Peter?” he asks once he finds himself again, returning from whatever short little trip he’d just gone on within his own mind. Saying it’s easier is not the same as preferring it, and in fact, is often the opposite. Erik is determined to do something right, here, and this means being extra receptive to his son’s wishes and feelings. He owes far more than that, but he’s got to start somewhere.
“Also better than when Tiana was little and called me 'pee pee’ because she couldn’t say Pietro or Peter to; Wanda, Mom and Jack thought it was hilarious though.“
Headcanon #?? -Peter&Learning:
Peter is a lot smarter than most people would give him credit for, even being able to catch on to things that he’s not naturally good at pretty quickly. Well he isn’t some kind of genius who can learn how to do everything or even able to actually apply all the knowledge he’s gathered over the years? His speed does allow him with an advantage over others when it comes to learning. With more complicated things though often times he’s able to learn the knowledge but not apply it, a couple examples of this would be Chemistry and engineering. Well he knows the information about different chemical compounds after stealing a few of Hanks books well bored one day he can’t apply the knowledge at all, and well he can learn from others how to build things he’s never been able to actually invent things himself. He has more than once helped people with finding information that they need so that they can apply it themselves.
why tf can I wear heels for months with no problem but I wear flats for 1 day and my feet feel like they are going to fall off. Fuck this shit.

*ignores Peter's broken leg at the end of Apocalypse in favor of accelerated healing*
He wasn’t really sure what to ask, he hadn’t really thought that far into this, he had barley expected that he would actually go through with actually saying something to him. And so now he fidgeted slightly, untwisting the wire from around itself in just a bit of a faster pace than would be considered normal. After what to him felt longer thank necessary but was probably no more than about 10-15 seconds he finally said something, hoping that it wouldn’t push to much on the loss Erik had only recently experience.
“If you want to tell me, what was your daughter like? I have a little sister, Tiana, from my Mom; it’s kind of…disappointing that I had one I wont be able to meet.”
If Erik decided he didn’t want to talk about it with him he’d be okay with that, he’d seen first hand after all just how much the loss of Nina and her Mother affected Erik. He’d nearly helped with destroying the world because of his grief, which Peter could very much understand. He didn’t know how he would react in similar situations, if his Mother, Wanda or Tiana had been killed. But he liked to think that he wouldn’t have gone quite as far as Erik, he hadn’t had nearly as much tragedy in his life after all with what he had learned from Mystique.
It’s clear by his expression that even if he had offered to answer any questions the boy might have, he hadn’t anticipated that one. Nonetheless, he quickly schools his expression into something calm and placid, swallowing thickly and giving a nod. It’s a fair question, after all, especially taking into account how concerned Peter is with family. It’s only too fitting a question, really; he’s taken a risk revealing himself to his absentee father, and after such a big step, it would make perfect sense to want to know about every last family member he had not yet met.
“She would’ve adored you, I’m sure,” Erik says, and far from being polite, he means that. Nina had been easy to please, and had endeavored to find a friend in everyone she met. “She had a gift, too, like the rest of you. She was…” How to explain it? She had been the gentlest of souls. One, quite literally, with nature. “There wasn’t a creature alive who could resist her pull,” he chooses to say instead.
“You won’t see much of a resemblance,” Erik continues, vaguely gesturing at his own face. “She very much took after her mother.” He’s got a photo, of course; one singular picture he’d taken from that place, of the three of them. Later, he’ll fetch it for Peter and let him see.
Peter could clearly see the way he reacted to the question, there wasn't much the got past him when he was focusing one something or someone like he was at the moment with Erik. His heightened speed gave him a unique perspective of the world, sure, sometimes he missed obvious things. The many scars from little things well running was a testament to that. He couldn't change the past any more than anyone else could...well as far as anyone knew at the point no one could change what happened.
“My...full name is Pietro, I don't ever use it but I figured you should know. Peter's easier.”
Peter shifted slightly when he asked about Wanda k- nowing, she did know–there was no way to keep it f- rom her. Not that he would want to. He hesitated for a fraction of a second before taking the seat, trying to go at a more normal speed but going just a bit too fa- st. He really wasn’t entirely s ure what it was he wa- nted from some kind of relationship with Erik, but he knew that he wanted to know his Father. His Mother had her reasons for not trying to find him and tell him and he didn’t blame her, but he still to know him.
“She knows everything I do about it, probably knows I’m talking to you n- ow.” there was a small shrug before he explained. “She’s always got our mi- nds..connected, unless I try and pu- sh her out for privacy.”
“I think she’s the only person who d- oesn’t get overwhelmed at the speed of my thoughts. Can actually make s- ense of them even, not entirely sure how she’s in my head, though. Don’t really know what her actual power is, it’s kind of all over the place—can’t r- eally pinpoint a start or stop.”
He wasn’t entirely sure what to say and so at this p- oint, he was just giving random nuggets of informat- ion about himself and Wanda. It was as good enou- gh a start as any, that he could think of that is.
It’s certainly no typical mode of conversation, but as Erik is at a complete loss, he is grateful for any information Peter is willing to give him. This is knowledge he should have already, and having the details filled in for him is like fresh, cold water being poured directly in his parched, dusty mouth. For Erik is adrift, has been for some time, and only recently has he had any hope of rescue. With every moment they spend together, Peter reels him in, pulling him to safety.
His next question would have been to press forth for details about his daughter’s ability, wanting to know if she had inherited anything from him, or whether her power leaned in an entirely different direction the way Peter’s did. It is fairly alarming to hear that what she can do cannot really be classified as something specific; it sounds chaotic. Likely dangerous. Erik yearns to know more, but that is perhaps another, separate conversation to have with his daughter.
“Do you have any questions for me?” he wonders, hands resting on his thighs. Erik’s palms feel clammy, as if he were some young, nervous thing, and he runs them over his knees. The least he can do now is answer any questions Peter may have carried around; anything his mother had not been able to answer, at any rate.
He wasn't really sure what to ask, he hadn't really thought that far into this, he had barley expected that he would actually go through with actually saying something to him. And so now he fidgeted slightly, untwisting the wire from around itself in just a bit of a faster pace than would be considered normal. “Wanda?” Erik looks up at Peter again, still managing to look a little lost. He knows Wanda; knows of her, and has exchanged brief pleasantries with her a time or two. He’d never suspected. How could he have?
“She knows, then. What you know?” It’s difficult to process, and he knows he must look a fool, sitting here agape this way. Before him stands his son; his child; his family, when he’d thought he’d had none left, and for the life of him he does not know how to behave in this situation. Peter is an adult. He’s lived his entire life without a father, and without all the things that come with the relationship that ought to be forged between a father and son. Surely he doesn’t need those things now. Surely he isn’t expecting them.
Erik wets dry lips with a brief swipe of his tongue and moves over a little, leaving space for Peter to sit and tipping his head sideways in invitation. Raising a baby girl had been one thing, but he is at a loss as to how to connect with someone Peter’s age. Nina hadn’t made it half as far. But he’s going to try. After all, he has nothing but time, now.
