Was just flipping through the Terrain of Magical Expertise tag and saw where someone asked you your favorite emotion to voice. Seeing as you posted Sonic and Nine there, I wanna ask - was voicing Ghost of a Chance hard at all? I feel disoriented when I look at their argument because while often in life I'm bringing Sonic's side to the table... I think it's a very easy argument to have been on both sides of. Especially given 9's comment about "It was never -my- home".

From an an acting perspective it was very easy for me and the writing intrigued me for the story they wanted to tell. But from a personal, relatability standpoint?

I HATED it!

Nine is my favorite Sonic character and the one I relate to and understand most. I was furious that Sonic never considered Nine's feelings or what might actually happen to his existence. Nine thought he finally found someone to trust and open up to, yet Sonic openly didn't even see him as a independent, REAL person.

The notion of "Nine betrayed Sonic" always felt reversed to me. Sonic betrayed his autonomy. Kid was just trying to survive and did absolutely nothing wrong in that moment.

It is very important to me that Nine is oftentimes mean and unabashedly selfish actually, not because he's Evil™ Tails™ ™ but because the concept of being Nice to somebody for no reason other than just, being nice, is completely foreign to him. To the point that even when he's genuinely being vulnerable and kind to someone(sonic), he still carries disregard for the other person's actual wants and needs in favor of believing they ultimately share his goals

He's been alone and ostracized his entire short life in New Yoke, so safe to say selflessness and kindness weren't something he'd experienced often nor had anyone to model them after, while both have most likely been introduced to him via Sonic in the first place... Who oftentimes gets himself into pointless, life threatening trouble due to his need to help everyone and fix everything regardless of his wellbeing

However, unlike Nine, Sonic can afford to pull his bullshit stunts because he has people, acquaintances, friends and family (and main character armor) to drag his ass from the brink of death whenever its necessary, and he has years of practice in creating those helpful relationships wherever he goes

The only person Nine could've relied on to keep him alive was himself, so being selfish would not only be logical from his perspective, but outright nescessary for survival. He also actively refuses to make himself small in any way unless he is being actively threatened. Although, honestly he dgaf even then, unless the foreseen consequences of his defiance would be worse than momentarily having to bite his tongue.
