A list of Softshell (Jewelolin) headcanons once again inspired by a post from @firecurls-27 hope you enjoy
Jewel was the one who fell first but it took awhile for her to work up the courage to Lanolin out
There first date was at a Coffee Shop (coffee was the only thing Jewel knew Lanolin liked for sure)
Jewel honestly didn’t know much about Lanolin before they started dating it was one of the things she wanted to fix in dating her
Jewel thought the date was going horribly but Lanolin was just happy to talk with Jewel and have coffee that actually tasted good
Jewel is more of the yapper while Lanolin is the listener
Jewel will often go on long tangents about museum related things
There is a bit of reluctantness with Lanolin in the relationship like she is constantly holding part of herself back from Jewel
Half of this is her professional side that keeps telling her it is wrong to date her business partner (She tries not to listen too hard) and the other half is trauma from Duo’s betrayal
Lanolin is very particular about PDA not wanting to be too overt when in public
They have only kissed a few times in private and every time it was initiated by Jewel
When in private they will often cuddle Jewel really likes being held by Lanolin
They often spend their time together doing things like reading, paperwork or just talking
Lanolin was actually the one who said “I love you” first. She saw it as and I quote “an accurate summary of the emotions I feel for you”
they sleep together on occasion the first time was probably the most awkward thing to ever happen
^ It was too late for Lanolin to go home so she decided she would sleep on Jewels couch but Jewel basically “Forced” her to sleep with her
^^Jewel explained that couples do in fact sleep with each other so they might as well try and Lanolin couldn’t find a good argument against that (She didn’t try very hard)
^^^ Lanolin laid as still as possible, not touching Jewel at all and just staring at the ceiling wide awake… Until Jewel slid over and curled into her after that Lanolin just held her until falling asleep herself, it was the best sleep she had ever gotten
Lanolin thinks Jewel makes the greatest cup of coffee in the world (it really isn’t)
Jewel thinks Lanolin makes the greatest cup of tea in the world (this one is more true Lanolin has made enough tea for her mom)
Jewel is happy to go as slow as Lanolin needs but she would be lying if she didn’t wish Lanolin would be more open with her
Another date they went on was to Curator Con the #1 Museum Curator convention in the world. Jewel was completely in her element and Lanolin learned a lot about museum operations that day
Jewel often dreams about her and Lanolin going back to Spiral Hill and running the mineral museum together
Lanolin doesn’t let herself have dreams about the future she isn’t sure Jewel will stay with her that long so it’s better to not get her hopes
Their biggest argument came during a week where Lanolin’s self care hit an all new low. Jewel told her she should take a bit better care of herself.
^ Lanolin agreed and apologized for not doing good enough. This is what set Jewel off the idea that Lanolin would take care of herself for Jewel but not for herself like Lanolin just doesn’t care about herself.
^^ And then I don't know how to finish that plot uhhh maybe Lanolin just trauma dumps on Jewel for an hour and Jewel consoles her
If Lanolin ever brought Jewel to meet her mother Fleece she would really like Jewel… like Jewel is everything she wishes Lanolin was. A nice and polite business owner.
Tangle supports this 100% Her and Jewel talk about their girlfriends a lot
Lanolin has occasionally asked for assistance from Whisper since Lanolin figured Whisper would relate to her
Maggie really likes Jewel, she is the only person Maggie is ok sharing Lanolin with
