                    ivette sighs , holding out the pastry box for the other . “ look , i just need you to try it , okay ?  i’ve been taste testing way too many recipes recently and at this point i might not even be able to distinguish sugar from salt . ”  she’d been a bit frustrated lately , feeling like her creativity had shot down and she was struggling to come up with new pastry recipes .  it wasn’t a huge deal , but she hated feeling so aimless when it came to baking .  “ i mean , come on , ” she says , “ it’s free food and at worst , it sucks and you need to wash it down with some coffee .  at best , it’s the most perfect thing you’ve ever tasted . ”

underneath   the   brim   of   her   glasses   her   eyebrows   knitted   together   and   while   doing   so   her   nose   scrunched   in   distaste.   shantipriya   swallowed   bravely,   resisting   the   urge   to   spit   out   the   unpleasant   treat,   ❛   yeah…   oh   yeah.   that’s   disgusting.   ❜    she   frowned   a   bit,   disappointed   that   a   ten   dollar   and   nineteen   cent   snack   didn’t   fulfill   her   expectations.   she   cleansed   her   palate   with   a   hefty   sip   of   water.   ❛   i’m   like   —   super   sad   right   now.   i   saw   crepes   and   my   mind   went   totally   bonkers   !   how   could   you   mess   up   a   crepe   that   badly   ?    ❜   she   vented   to   the   person   beside   her.   ❛   let’s   ditch   this   popsicle   stand,   yeah   ?   you   got   any   other   foodie   places   to   check   out   that   aren’t   gross   ?    ❜    she   asked   while   taking   another   bite   of   the   disgraced   crepe.

she’s quick to grab the coffee cup that’s set down on the pick - up counter.   so quick that she doesn’t bother to look at the name on the cup.   and even quicker to take a sip   ,    only then did she realize this was not her coffee.    “ shoot  , ”    she says    ,   glancing down at the name before meeting the gaze of the coffees rightful owner.    “ that’s what i get for being impatient , ”    she says   ,   “ let me buy you another. ”          @ashfordmisc​​

the bar was a happy place for a lot of people. depending on the mood, it could be the place one went to flirt, drink the night away, or even just blow off some steam. bartending at drift had become more than a means of survival for kat. most nights, it was actually kinda fun. interacting with the customers was a huge part of that.  kat was wiping down the bar when she heard someone push the doors open. it was still early in the evening, not quite time for the bar to open for the dinner rush. “getting an early jump on the evening crowd?” she hollered out to the person as she pushed her rag to the side. “unless you’re here to look at my beautiful face.” kat smirked.

          “   do you ever look at a book and think of that scene from when harry met sally  ?  “  ducky returns a book he no longer wishes to buy to the shelf and picks up another.  “  that whole-  when i buy a new book, i read the last page first. that way, in case i die before i finish, i know how it ends. that, my friend, is a dark side.  “  he glances over to see if the person is following but even if they’re not he continues.  “  think someone should work for the funeral home who finds out what the person was reading and racks off the last pages to them before they rest. i know i’d be pissed if i had an unfinished book. am i making sense  ?  “

jude  had  lost  his  apartment  keys—  again.  it  was  a  nearly  monthly  situation,  especially  when  work  got  a  little  busy.  he’d  started  leaving  a  spare  key  under  the  welcome  mat  on  his  front  door,  but  it  got  stuck  into  the  keyhole  the  moment  he  pushed  it  in.  so,  with  his  cellphone’s  battery  dead  and  his  dislike  for  the  next  door  neighbor,  jude  did  the  next  logic  thing:  approaching  random  people  walking  in  front  of  his  apartment  to  ask  them  to  come  upstairs  and  try  to  pull  the  key  out  of  the  lock.  ❛  ma’am,  i  promise  you  i’m  not  a  maniac.  i  just  really—  ❜  the  sentence  was  cut  off  halfway  through  as  the  woman  walked  away  from  him  in  a  hurry,  the  blond  man  turning  around  looking  for  his  next  victim.  ❛  you  !  i  need  help.  my  key  is  jammed  inside  the  lock  and  i  can’t  pull  it  out.  upstairs.  ❜  he  pointed  towards  the  building’s  door.  ❛  can  you  please  help  ?  i’ll  repay  you  in  coffee.  ❜   /    @ashfordmisc​
