Thank you for those of you who visited my Tumblr and reblogged, loved the beautiful sceneries of Korea. I've been working, staying ouside of Korea more this year. But stay tuned. There are still so much more I want to share with you about this small country that I'm passionate about.

I really loved this island. I miss this place, seriously.

Ulleungdo, or Ulleung Island.

Muk. Have you heard of this hard-to-pronounce, 'sounds weird' word?

Muk is a jelly made of buckwheat, mung beans, or acorns from which the starch has been extracted by grinding, steeping, and straining. The dregs from the straining are boiled down until they thicken in to a gelatinous substance. Then it is cooled and congealed in a mold. Koreans commonly eat Muk, cut into small pieces, mixed with lettuce, cucumber or other vegetables and garnished with a spicy sauce. (explanation from ET house dictonary at Naver dictionary)

Its not sweet. It is rather tasteless itself, but when mixed with vegetables and soy sauce with some spices it turns into quite a dish. You can easily see Muk dish near the entrance of mountains. It is loved by hikers and dieters for low calories.

If you ever go to Mungyeong, go to 20-year-old Somunansikdang(somunan meaning well-known, sikdang meaning restaurant. pretty upfront?) and taste some Muk!
