You really should have gone with your first reaction and apologized imo. What even is the point of constantly being mean about one of the asexual identities.

Autochorissexualism IS an identity. A lot of people can experience a lot of things that are identities. This is an identity (clue: people use it as an identity), that is repeatedly erased. Please stop.

When I came out as ace to my dad a couple of years ago, he asked me not to rush to put labels on myself and keep an open mind, because he “want[ed] me to be happy.” Every so often he gives me the kind of warnings and tips he’d give as if I’m eventually going to change my mind and have sex with my girlfriend. When the topic came up again earlier this year, he said that whenever I say I’m asexual he can’t help but wonder if his spectacularly failed marriage with my abusive mother is the reason why I don’t want to ever have sex with anyone, and again that he’s worried that because of my identity I won’t have a chance to “be happy” (I assume he means settle down in a relationship and possibly have kids), despite the fact that I am happily in a relationship with someone who is fine with and respects my asexuality. Normally my dad is incredibly queer-friendly, and he’s a very vocal and passionate straight ally, so when he says these things I can only believe he means well…but that only makes it get under my skin even more. I keep playing out in my mind over and over a conversation where I ask him how I could possibly be better off at this point in my life if I was having sex, but I can’t bring myself to do it and I don’t know if it would even help. What should I do? I love my dad, and I know he didn’t mean to put me in such a conflicted state, but the fact remains that his comments bother me and make me feel like he doesn’t quite respect or understand my identity.

i'm pansexual but i've p much never been in love (i've had 1 crush in total & that was 8 years ago) i don't rly understand the concept of romantic feelings & how it differs from platonic ones, i can't distinguish them v well (i wanted to spend my future w my best friend & this made me think i was in lov) & i can't imagine myself in a relationship without having a foundation of friendship - i wld assume this is demiromantic but i'm not sure bc the descriptions don't seem to fit me right?

Hi! For a pretty long time, I’ve identified as demi-polysexual/romantic, but I think I’m more greysexual/romantic?? My best friend is acespec, but I’m afraid to tell her bc I’m afraid she’ll think that I’m copying her in a way? And I feel like it’s too “special snowflake” ish, probably bc I’ve grown up in an overly Christian household. I think this is what I am, but im still really confused :// do you have any advice? Hi. How do I know if I'm ace or just have really low self esteem? I get horny sometimes and masturbate mostly to get rid of those feelings or to de-stress. I sometimes fantasize about romantic relationships and I know I experience aesthetic attraction (mostly to people I don't know). However I have NO desire to have actually have sex or be in relationship. I typically can't even think//fantasize about romance if it involves me. I think I'm ace & aromantic but I'm so unsure.

I just heard of the term alibidoist and I'm wondering if this would fit me. I am currently identifying as asexual and I know i don't feel sexual attraction towards anyone but I like the idea of sex and i do fantasize about it though it's never about any one specific. is this alibidoist?

I'm a writer and already the majority of my characters are LGBT+ but I want to include some more orientations that don't get enough representation, like asexual. However, I'm not asexual and I want to be respectful to the ace community, so I have some questions. 1) Is it okay for me to write an asexual character even tho I'm bisexual? 2) The character I have in mind would be pan ace. But she's a human-alien hybrid. Would it be dehumanizing/offensive to aces to make this character? Thanks :) -A

I've identified as asexual for years now and this blog has been very informative. thank you for all of the hard work you put into it! as cheesy and cliche as it sounds, to all those struggling ppl on the spectrum out there---it gets better.

(sorry if this has been answered before I'm on mobile!) do other aces have similar experiences where they only feel aroused/masterbate when they are very stressed/worried? and then otherwise feel no inclination to do it at all?

So I am a 14 female and I have a crush abut it’s not for look it’s for personality and I also never want to have sex with anyone. I have known this for the longest time. I think I am ace but I read somewhere that people that are ace have different comfort zones. Am I ace or just sex-repellent

I'm pretty sure I'm asexual. But when it comes to my romantic attraction, I'm a bit confused. I don't think I've ever been romantically attracted to someone, but I often look at people and go "yeah I wouldn't mind dating them." I also feel that if I started dating someone, I would gain a romantic attraction towards them. Does this sound like any existing romantic orientation, or am I just weird????

After having a chat with my friend she says I might be ace, but is it normal to not have the desire to mastrubate or have sex, but still enjoy slutty fan fictions about my favorite couples? I find that they are typically enticing when I have physical urges around my period, but just reading them tends to calm my hormones without even touching myself.
