This article is six parts and thousands of words, but I hope you read it. Incredibly brave creators spoke about their experience working with Rusty Quill, and their stories kept me up for nights. In my opinion, some of the actions taken by this company were unconscionable - but I invite you to read this piece and decide for yourself.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but the behavior we support will be emulated by other podcast companies. It is up to us as a community to decide what that behavior should be, and take concrete action to uphold it.

Like I don't ship them but I think they should get locked in a small space for several hours, trying making out once (1nce), and a: agree to never tell anybody and b: realize that no, the tension between them truly is not homoeroticism. It's something much weirder than that
Most Popular Podcasts on Ao3 Found in Fandoms > Other Media. To make this ranking, all series titles in Other Media were copy-pasted to Excel, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then manually filtered since not all podcasts were marked as such. A few web series like Critical Role (26453 fanworks) and Dimensions 20 (2761 fanworks) released audio-only versions of their works too, but I left them out since they were listed was a web series on ao3 and more known as one too. As someone who has witnessed old, established fandoms get completely erased under a wave of new content, I'd like to put this request out now as early as possible:
Can we all, please, use separate tags for "The Magnus Archives" (TMA) and "The Magnus Protocol" (TMP*) both here on tumblr and over on Ao3.
There will be some overlap, of course, but searching for TMA should turn up content about Jonathan Sims, the Archivist, and the old established set of characters, while searching for TMP should turn up content about our as-of-yet unnamed new civil servant protagonists and whoever shares the show with them.
I realize that people are going to want to keep using the TMA tags for both personal organization reasons as well as visibility, but I promise you, once content for the new show starts really picking up steam it'll be easier on all of us if we have two separate tags to keep them straight.
[If we need an overarching umbrella tag, I'd suggest "The Magnus Universe" (TMU) to cover content related to the world as a whole rather than a specific show.]
*Edit: Some helpful folks have pointed out that "TMP" is already in use as a tag for Star Trek "The Motion Picture," so perhaps a better alternative would be "TMAGP" so we don't erase their fandom, either.

id love to do a piece of art for Malevolent detailing all of Arthur's scars bc there sure are a fuckton of them!!
not to be a massive downer but i really really really hope people take a few seconds to think before just throwing their money at RQ like... we are talking about a company who blatantly mismanaged their merch (the designs were largely atrocious, there was barely any merch for shows that werent Magnus) AND their discord server (for years) and managed to go from having one of the top fictional podcasts in the sphere to having comparatively low views in their new shows (not to mention boosting rq network shows over their own products and having massive delays with actually releasing those shows). not to mention the veritable laundry list of unfulfilled Patreon promises that, as far as i can tell (now I haven't been a patron in a minute), have had either zero updates or super minimal updates. not to point to the transcripts debacle but like... it's been Multiple years of them doing just under the absolute bare minimum of accessibility. and they constantly have fallen back on the excuse (for all the things listed above) of not having the resources or the time or the staff or the whatever. so like... idk, man, maybe them running a Kickstarter that has inherent promises built *into it* shouldn't give you the most trustworthy feelings for [vague gestures at the idea of a Magnus 2]
plus, if the recent layoffs and financial rumors are to be believed.... RQs low on finances and didn't actually have a solid backup plan to deal with the Patreon loss from post-magnus or the lack of viewership/care for their new shows (which they stated that they did!). it's hard for me to believe this isn't just a cash grab that will lead to them patching the boat for another three years until they once again run out of money and need to do Magnus 3 just to keep beating this dead horse
like, if you want to give them money and support artists and podcasters, whatever, I'm not your mom, but I'm seeing a lot of my mutuals talking about this and i just want to like... idk man, exercise caution. think about all this a bit before tossing a bunch of money their way. this should be true of every Kickstarter tbh like you should do your research on the company's history (looking at the completely failed and fraudulent tv show Kickstarters that Tumblr has fell into before.......) before tossing money to them. (not trying to say rq is lying or anything, I do believe their intentions are honorable, but it's like. idk dude it's a very transparent cash grab and I think everyone should be viewing this w a more critical eye [pun not intended] instead of getting distracted by the possibility of more magnus)
