He didn't intend to keep her; he was planning on making her into a pie after replacing her with a changeling. However, he wound up getting attached and decided to keep her as a pet.

Fennel was about five years old -- three years after convincing her to stay with him -- when he started seeing her more like family and cared for her properly.

Also, since time works differently in the fae realm, by Alternian standards she's at least a few hundreds of sweeps old, if not over a thousand sweeps, despite only being physically thirteen sweeps

GOD the lore just keeps coming!

I imagine that fae are pretty loosey goosey when it comes to keeping track of time beyond daytime and nighttime, and their ages are just something they inherently know bc Magic™. Fennel doesn't remember when her birthday is. The only way she knows how to mark her age is when her guardian celebrated the day he brought her into the realm aka her "gotcha day."

It also doesn't help that (in my mind) the seasons of each court never change. It's always spring in the spring court, always winter in the winter court, etc. She doesn't know how to translate her age or not-birthday into sweeps and is still adapting to having changing seasons.

P sure I have norovirus. Been having stomach problems the last week and a half where everything I put in my body makes me nauseated. It's a toss up whether I'm going to vomit or be extremely nauseated and wishing I could vomit. I don't have the stomach cramping or diarrhea, but I have the nausea, throwing up, and headaches. I'm going to see a doctor on Tuesday if it's not better by then since waiting it out is not working.
