Life & Blog Update (Indefinite Hiatus Announcement)
For those who know me, this announcement probably won't be very shocking. I've obviously been absent from this blog for quite a while, for various different reasons.

The concerns of Congress and politics had very nearly taken over Alfred’s entire life. He hated having to choose work over his sister, but one of these things always seemed more pressing than the other. He’d have Mia his entire life, he reasoned. How many times does he get to build a nation?
He holds out his arms to hug her as she runs toward him. Has she gotten taller? His heart nearly snaps in two when he hears her speak. Since when has she spoken like that? Where were the “thee”s and “thou”s he’d grown accustomed to?
He forced a smile. “She did, did she?” He reminded himself that Mia was happy and that’s all that mattered. What Cait did or didn’t do to corrupt his sweet baby sister to the ways of pointless materialism didn’t matter. He’d set her right. “You look very pretty Bunny.”
“Thank you!” She slowed down and grabbed his hand. “We’ve been spending time together all week, since we stole that horse and ran away from Mr. Adams and his group. She bought me one of those pretty apple dumplings, too, even though we were in the middle of running away.” Hoisting herself up onto a table, she kicked her legs, not a care in the world. “She recommended some novels to me, and I tried to get her to have a political opinion, but I don’t think she’s ready for that yet.”
“Other than those mean men that are always around her, I don’t understand why we never invited her, she’s so nice! Maybe when you get home, you can invite her, too.” Mia would talk and talk and talk and talk until someone took out her vocal chords, or at least until she noticed that Alfred didn’t seem nearly as excited by the prospect of a new friend as she did.

Before the congress in New York finally departed and went back to their respective colonies, Mia had to fight to see Alfred; they had both always been so busy, to the point where she had been blown off at least four times by her beloved older brother. Those times were instead spent with Caitlyn, looking at girlish clothing and books and treats... Frankly, it was the most fun she’d had in a long, long time, and it was a wonderful distraction from the tension between everyone and her father.
But, finally, she was able to see Alfred. She wore her pretty new blue dress, courtesy of Cait, with her hair braided and done up with ribbons. Despite the appearance of a young lady, her personality had barely been touched; ladies did not run, but Mia would, right up to Alfred.
“Alfie, Alfie, look at what I got yesterday at the shops! Isn’t it so pretty?” She twirled a little, showing off the movement of the fabric, but quickly stopping after bumping into a chair. “Oh, goodness, sorry. Do you like it? Caity said it looks very pretty on me, and she did my hair, too.”
