Alright well I kinda live posted Elimination Chamber so I’ll put my whole thoughts here I guess about the event and the individual matches.
(For reference my baseline for a match is about 2.5 stars, so anything above that has some value as a match. 4 and up are reserved for the really great stuff)
The Women’s Elimination Chamber
(Alexa Bliss v Kiana James v Tiffany Stratton v Raquel Rodriguez v Rhea Ripley)
This should have main evented over the Men’s Chamber. Personally found both Chambers to be weak overall, but this one was better than the Men’s Chamber. Raquel was the MVP in this one, looked dominant and should be a challenger for the World title after WM. Rhea winning here was the correct choice, however I would have switched the title matches, Rhea v Vaquer and Morgan v Cargill would have been really interesting, but the mania matches should still be really good. The women’s division is absolutely stacked with talent right now.
Women’s Intercontinental Championship -
This match was fucking awesome icl. Getting tired of Ref bumps in matches, but the Becky/Carr feud as well as the way it was executed in this match really added to it for me. I loved that Lee gets the visual fall on Lynch, and then just makes her tap out again. Huge babyface vibes, and Becky just tapping twice without getting a visual pin was lowk beast and kinda fucks with the logic of wrestling in a neat way. Honestly thought Becky was going to win and Lee would rematch and win at Mania, but this outcome is much more interesting at least in terms of Becky’s booking going forward.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Lowk this match get the extra quarter star because of the Coup de Grace into the Sharpshooter, that shit fucked. Beyond that just an awesome match, Balor looked like a main eventer, Punk took a beating but came out on top. The old theme for Balor gives him so much more aura, and the Punk introduction (and Larry jacket!) was awesome. A really, really solid match that had me thinking a Balor win was possible for a moment.
Mystery Box/Danhausen Debut
This was fine… I guess. I like Danhausen, I liked the music and the dancers, the production for him was great here. Just don’t know how he’ll fit into WWE as a performer. Also building up for the last three weeks for this just for it to be Danhausen is lowk crazy.
The Men’s Elimination Chamber
(Je’von Evans v Trick Williams v Cody Rhodes v Logan Paul v Randy Orton v LA Knight)
This whole chamber was a mess. Cody worked like a heel in most of this match (despite Chicago cheering him!) on Je’von which was kind of odd to me. Knight showed up and… did absolutely nothing, why put him in these matches just to do nothing with him? Either push him or don’t, this will they won’t they, is exhausting. Logan Paul had no fucking right to be in this match over Fatu, he looked like shit, and the one cool thing he did was when he spiked Je’von on his finish… however, Paul also eliminated 3 of the competitors which fucking sucks. Really wish they put a young guy such as Trick in this position to make them seem like a dominant force going into the future. Rollins returning was cool, but I don’t care to see Rollins v Paul/Theory so whatever. McIntyre interfering was expected and… whatever. It was fine. The match just felt like it ended very abruptly with the interferences happening like directly after Paul eliminated Trick. And the first half was not particularly good wrestling, even though I like most of the guys in this match.
